Rather than being a game in it's own right, it's a carbon copy of Mass Effect in order to influence the sales.
Dragon Age Origins outsold Mass Effect, if they wanted to influence the sales as you say, they should have gone with what the majority wanted and continued the warden's story from DAO and DAA.

I will reserve judgement until they release a lot more information. It feels like the stages of DA:O where the game was still just called Dragon Age, and the website was a few old pieces of concept art, listing features such as a co-op multiplayer campaign. As of now it looks like the game is going in a more KOTOR-esque direction rather than being more like BG. Of course, there's so little information that I could be totally wrong. The only real concern I have is that have a set protagonist will limit Role Playing options, or that having fully VO'd main characters will lead to a decrease in the amount of dialogue.

-I'm concerned that we won't be able to import the characters's playthroughs from Origins into DA2 so that things that would affect Thedas, and not just Fereldan, will be unique to the playthrough. I've read the other concerns related to the Warden's affect in the universe, and I've researched what little there is of official word about the game, and I have to say I'm already accepting that we may not hear much of our Warden in this game because its based in another country in Thedas and events are happening separate to what happened in Fereldan in Origins. One thing we have to remember is that the Blight was more of an insular event because the Archdemon was specifically targeting Fereldan. But my point still stands: I seriously hope nothing is just canonized in DA2 because that would severely limit our play options in future sequels, as I'm assuming DA2 is more of a separate story rather than a true sequel and we'll see our Warden again in DA3.
-This has been repeated countless times by others, but I'm afraid of where the conversation and combat system will go. I loved DA's classic throwback style and I loved text-based responses, as they felt more original and made sense (the Mass Effect series' paragon/renegade responses lately have been confusing). I'm a console player, and I DO NOT support the dumbing down of game elements to please more casual console players.
-I fear that RPG elements, choices, and character customization will be very simplified like ME2. Given that we're playing a more pre-set character, I hope I'm wrong and later we find that we'll get the same depth of choices that we got in DAO

Vocal forum members != majority.

Thank you, taine. That was honestly the funniest thing I've read in a while.

Yeah, I agree, those "people" (if you can call them that...) who don't play video games as often as you are subhuman scum who are obviously dumber than you are and can be blamed for anything you don't like!

I had formed such a satisfying connection with the characters (as well as my own) from the first game and I had hoped for more adventures with them.
I was especially hoping for some expansion on the Morrigan baby plot line.
There doesn't seem to be anything in what's been revealed yet to indicate any of our old friends will return.
At any rate, I have had such a blast with Origins that I'm excited to see what they do with DA2 and am prepared for the posibility that I will love what it is enough to forget about what it isn't.

Which isn't surprising, since barely *anything* has been revealed yet. The game was announced, what, two days ago? Information always trickles out a very slow pace.

Im also a bit worried of what Ive read about the hero - doesnt seem very brave and looks like no blight darkspawn or anything else - next they will import some phaser guns or something.
Anyways they better not use that cr*p new dialog system - awakening and such were horrid -
And I hope they put the romance back in - again awakenings really killed the DA:O for me - kinda of like star wars 1/2/3 - after watching that trash i havent even wanted to look at the originals again

So far this is looking pretty terrible - I loved classes and the amount of dialog/trees in the first...
Umm, the game still has the same classes in it. And a dialogue wheel doesn't mean the absence of dialogue trees, it's just newer way of structuring them.

2.Hawke will still act like a lump on a log, despite the VA. Both Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale, maleShep and femShep in Mass Effect, are talented VAs. (Mark was the Biotic God for those who do not know and Hale has been doing VA for 15 years). However, and for whatever reason, both Sheps were nearly emotionless in many scenes throughout both games. Hale emoted slightly more, but only slightly. I fear the same, if not worse, will happen to Hake.
3.DA2 will use Awakening style dialog. Hated it!! Leliana’s Song seemed to combine VA, Origins style and Awakening style dialog. Fine. I just don’t want Awakening style to replace Origins style. I WILL NOT BUY THIS GAME IF IT DOES!
4.DA2 will go from RPG to FPS. From “Press Release details and release date change – Kotaku”
“Dynamic new combat mechanics that put you right in the heart of the battle"? Hmm. The PC version of Dragon Age 1 (really called Dragon Age: Origins) allowed gamers to play from an overhead perspective, either pausing the action or playing in realtime. The console versions only allowed the game to be played from more of a behind-the-character perspective. The phrasing here implies a closer combat perspective, no?”
I know this is just speculation from a gaming site and they “gaming sites in general” tend to get things all wrong, still this does bring up a concern as the same thing happened w/ Mass Effect.
5.Commentary: I’ll definitely give BW the benefit of the doubt and wait and see on DA2. For me they have earned it. I’ve loved their games from Baulder’s Gate to Mass Effect 2. But, and there is no real blame here, it may be just time to give up on gaming all together. As PC games begin to more and more emulate consoles, they no longer hold my interest and I doubt this will change. A great song writer once said, “The Times They are a Changin’.” They don’t always change the way you want them to.

1) Fixed character.
2) No choosing of race.
3) Still can only be a rogue, warrior, or mage.
4) The combat was amazing in the first one.
5) This is basically going to be Mass Effect in the past now.
6) Not carrying over the whole warden origins and such
7) not even 2 years of waiting and the game is already being pushed out so I guess a 30 hour story.
8) We more than likely will not get full scale customization of our already disappointing character as far as choice in what to be.
9) The combat will not blow my mind and I will like DA:O more just like I enjoy ME more than ME2.
10) The game will BOMB.

That being said: i don't know how powers application will go in DA2, but the quickbar needs fixing (multiple quickbars like nwn, would be optimal)
And it's just my opinion, so pls don't flame, but i think the global cooldown should crossover to the DA world and make things much simpler...

My only real concern at this point is that there will be radial menus in the PC version. These are fine on consoles but horrible with kb+mouse. Mice operated easiest in strainght-ish lines not in circles. Now with luck the 'dialogue wheel' is only a wheel on consoles and Bioware are keeping to lists for PC. I'm sure we'll find out well before the game comes out, but you did ask for my concerns...

the whole having character with predermined past is kinda "JRPG" sounding... sure the first one had this too where as you were either human noble or dalish elf but still you had lots of freedom, now it sounds like its just one possibility and even that is thinned down, just like in ME.
graphic updates can be only good thing and what ive seen on the concept arts it looks like the direction is good. anything that changes the horrible looking armors cant be bad.

I am quite unable to relate my concerns in a consice way, so here's a shot at it:
- I like my Warden. I feel personally attached to my Warden. I've gone on adventures with him, I've laughed with him, I've managed to shed a few tears with him. He's a real character to me, a living part of the setting. It took an entire game for me to become attached to him, and I want to know what becomes of him. I don't want to play as someone else that they've already decided on.
I agree one-hundred-and-fifty-percent. When I finished DA:O, I picked the sacrifice first. I was so moved at my character dieing like that, I had to go back to a save and do the ritual ending to cheer myself up. Having my own character is important to me, it's a part of my immersion, its a way of escaping, to shape a storyline how I wish to with my own creation. I don't like the FF games and nor did I like the ME games for the same reason - the protagonists are not my creation, and I don't relate to them at all.
