 Wait wait wait wait...

Ok, no.

Wait.

We can't import our character from DA:O into DAII?

Tell me this isn't true.

It's not an expansion; it's an entirely new game, set in a new time, with a new hero.

So... yes, it's true. Read it and weep, my friend.

This is a ton of ****, what's the point in the new game, then?  Why not call it Dragon Age: Hawke's Adventure?  What happened to my Warden?

Godamit, Bioware, what the **** are you doing.

well, it's not a new time to be exact.
it's still in dragon age, so it's in the same 100 year period.

alot of people from the first dragon age are likely still alive and kicking.

I feel like if Bioware had up and decided ME3 wouldn't have Shepard in it.

I am disappoint.

I'm glad, because in ME, the character creator was kept the same so it would be compatible. Therefore, we can expect a revampted CC for DA 2!

Many Wardens probably sacrificed themselves in various player's games. I only had one sacrifice, but it's understandable why they wouldn't carry over the Warden.

Your logic is flawed.  They could have done the same thing they did in Mass Effect 2;  if your Shepard dies, you can't import him to ME3.

Wondered about this.

At least I can uninstall Dragon Age now and just wait for Dragon Effect 2.

Bioware? Little info here? Should we hold onto our saves?

Bioware didn't seem to care if your warden was dead in awakenings.

Seriously, usually a single run through is about 1-2 gb.  I have 3 DA:O runs and 2 Awakenings, and they're just taking up space if they're not going to be used in DAII

Missing the point here.

Thank you for your opinion, there's the door.

True. I had forgotten about that. You can import a Warden even when they're dead.

I think it's time for people to calm down. In all probability you WILL be able to import your save file, but you WILL NOT be able to use your previous character. Your actions from the first game (and awakening) would still have an effect on your new game, and maybe you will even run into characters from your previous runs. That would allow people who sacrificed themselves to still have their choices affect the next game, because it would really suck if you went with the sacrifice option and because of that you cannot play the second game or everything you did is rendered irrelevant because you can't import your savefile.

Or at least, that's what I hope they'll do. I could totally live with that, and I wouldn't see what the fuzz is all about. In fact, it could be very interesting to have a character rise from a nobody to a champion all again, with his all new set of allies and all new opportunities for romance. I trust Bioware enough to believe they'd do an all new cast I would immensely enjoy, just like with Origins.

Don't set you hopes up for that, whatever the Warden did in DAO is largely irrelevant to the rest of Thedas, well except for ending the blight, but that's not a choice, you have to do it to complete the game. So importing stuff would just be a burden to the new story.

What I want is a confirmation that I'm not wasting 10gb+ of memory on stuff that won't have a use later on.

Well the character is a blight survivor so I'm guessing it starts around the end of either DAO or DAA so maybe there will be a cameo of your warden and a few decisions like whos on the throne.
