So, what are your hope and dreams about the romances in DA2? What kind of characters do you want to romance? What do you think Bioware should do to improve the romances? Which romance choices did you like the best in Origins?

They better make an awesome male character to replace Alistair Image IPB and Im sure they will.

EDIT(2/10/11)Oh wow my old thread popped back up :D

OK so here is what we know:
Avaline is NOT a LI
Isabella IS a LI
Fenris has a 99.99% chance :P
Seb is a DLC character so Im not getting my hopes up but you never know
Merril also has a strong chance
And people are speculating thats its between Varric and Anders for the "last spot" in the list of LIs

So who would you prefer? Now that we have some characters revieled, who are you looking forward to romancing the most? :3

(and sorry for misspelling of any names)

Personally I hope there is no "romance". Ever since Mass Effect, it seems like every BioWare game is almost as much as a dating sim as it is an RPG. I mean seriously, there are a couple 30 second sex scenes in Mass Effect and people fall in LOVE with the characters.

It's ridiculous.

Why?
We can like or hate characters as well, why not develop an innocent crush? It's a sign of good writing.
You probably didn't mean what you said, as I can't imagine anyone enjoying these kinds of games if you truly felt no emotion towards NPCs at all.

If they make sure that Tali is a party member and a love interest I'll be perfectly happy. :D

NO....they don't need to explain how and why and all those annoying questions....Tali should be in every BioWare game because she's just that awesome and that is all the explanation needed. :P:P

It would be nice to reverse things a bit, morrigan is the bad girl that slowly turns good and warms to you and Alistar is the funny perfect shy guy.

Reverse? Bad boy, funny perfect shy girl?

Explanation sounded better in my brain...

I like sex as much as the next guy, but people totally over-react to the "romance" content in the games. They remind me of the Japanese guys that marry pillows, and BioWare seems to cater to them, that is all. I mean some people on this forum are saying they won't buy the game if there is no sex. I can't believe how much people care. Also, at least the ME1 romance scenes were somewhat tasteful, the DA ones look like a softcore porno made by a modder in a few hours.

Parallel characters could be an interesting thing to do. Same character, same story (just tailored for each setting), same personality...

Feelings are gay! No one should care about their feelings.

Feelings are for the weak!!

Amen brother. But given that BioWare isn't a studio that's out to take risks or push the envelope, things are going to be the same.

I mean, hey, sure it's kinda fun I guess. But it's not a sign of good writing, that's for damn sure

The problem with a lot of the romances is that BioWare inevitably ends up using the same shy/nice guy or ice queen as the love interest every single time. It's boring and you can see it coming a mile away. How many times am I going t have to meet Carth/Alistair/Kaiden or Mission/Liara or Bastila/Miranda/Morrigan? If anything, it's lazy writing.

But, since the fans would throw a hissy fit if there were no romances (having Shepard nail Miranda was kinda fun, but I don't really care either way) if you must include them, try to use different types of characters this time.

Er... you're aware that BioWare has been knocked for doing this, right? Maybe it's just sarcasm on your part.

People who don't like romances are aware of the fact that they're entirely optional, right?

Um... no one's forcing you to play a romance subplot, are they?

Just saying...

How about some drow/dark elf love? And if possible, a bit of happy ending with your romance option.

I agree completely, and also there seems to be only a few different kinds of relationships i need you/teach me how to love/we're both hot, let's bang.

And to the people saying romances are optional, I know. Nobody is forcing me to play them, but when they are taking development time in writing the romance dialog and making the scenes, they are not working on other parts of the game, like DA:O is unpolished as heck in some places, like a handful of item effects not being implemented. Now I know having romances probably did not directly lead to this, but it couldn't have helped.

Maybe it'll be like in Fable. Dance around and show off against a random target, wait until the heart above the target gets full, then get a ring and get married.

Wow OP that was an odd lead in since your question is in no way related to the content of the s/s thread.

Anyway, since it's purely a watchawant thread...

More warrior and mage romances! I'm tired of rogues.

Oh and i do mean romance. Not more sex. Less sex more story.

Exactly, modders can worry about sex.

What? I simply observed that there is a same sex romance thread but not a thread about the romances in general. Whats so "odd" about that? Image IPB

Edit:There I edited it to make it more clear I guess.

Well, I'd say add more sex. As they say - make love, not Warcraft.

I hope there are romances. The sex scenes aren't important but some nice heartwarming dialogue is what makes it

What I'd like to see is an awesome female dwarf character - someone like Sigrun!

extra points if "funny perfect shy girl" turns out to be Morrigan's daughter. That would be something to smirk about ^_^
