Well, aside from the fact that each love interest has a specific achievement attached to them, which you receive after having sex.

ROFL.

All of the romances have a bit of suck to them. But Dragon Ages were the best by far. I particularly liked the fact that Morrigan and Alistair's romances can have some very unhappy endings.

I really hate how the romance achievements are given out in Origins. It makes sense to get one after the sex in ME or ME2, because the sex scene signals the end of the romance in those games. But in DA, take Morrigan's romance- the sex scene is really just the beginning of the actual romance/ relationship part. Hand out the romance achievement after you've completed the game and truly competed the romance, not just after the sex scene.

That aside, I do concur with your main point.Image IPB

LOL, well yes, there is that, but that came after the fact. The game wasn't designed to be like that (or if it was, they did a good job of hiding it). :)

I think probably the only one where the sex takes place toward the completion of the romance is Alistair's.  It takes a long, LONG time to get him in the sack, provided you aren't abusing the gift system.  Zev's definitely had the same thing as Morrigan's--the romance took a lot longer to kick in than the sex.

Actually, I'd say it's (surprisingly) Leliana's. Leliana will not allow you to sleep with her until she's in love and you've completed her personal quest. Alistair you can convince past Major Approval (uh, Adore, I think it's called), even if you haven't completed his quest. Leliana must be the one to ask you.

I guess because Alistair's a guy. And he's sick of being a virgin. Or something. I once orchestrated sleeping with him before finding out his birthright and it being waaaay at the end of the game, right before the Landsmeet. And I was hoping that I could get some extra dialogue from the "Why did you keep your birthright a secret?" speech. I didn't. Which sort of made me more mad. Luckily, I ensured that it was a Human Noble playthrough so I couldn't get too bitter.

Really?  I didn't know that!  D'aww, Leliana.  So sweet.  So unintentionally creepy with the eyelashes dialog, but sweet nonetheless.

GIVE ME YOUR EYELASHES I HAS A JAR.

Leliana should take "watching you sleep cutely" lessons from Alistair. I think it'd go over better. Her romance works best for me when I believe in my mind she's bat**** crazy. Helps me deal with the schizo jealousy. ("You lied to me, you slept with Zevan!" "What? I...what?")

Yeah, sometimes I feel like I've flanderized her in my head to this sweet but insane girl.  Then I go back and replay or go through her dialog and it's like..."Nope, she's actually nuts.  Adorable, but utterly nuts."  Between the eyelash jar and the Maker talking to her and the weird jealousy...yeah.  Though I still loved her to pieces.  I did a good job avoiding her romance tip-offs, so I never had the crazy jealousy conversation with her.

Oh, it's not even that. Just about every character in the game (besides Alistair, bless his virgin heart) assumes that you must be sleeping with Zev because he's such a man****, right? Leliana has two jealous dialogues with each character, and the first is triggered by sleeping with Zevran. The second is triggered by Adore rating. So if you've never slept with him, she's never reacted to your relationship. And then she gets all jealous and seething and calling you a liar about not sleeping with Zevran.

Not to mention her just not understanding that caring about "someone else" ends the relationship, and instead meaning that you've been lying to her about caring about someone else.

And I've even gotten bugs where I know I'm not in a romance with her and she suddenly "breaks up" with me when I marry Alistair.

She was an oddball for sure, but I appreciated how her version of the Maker (reality-based or not) led her to actually do good in the world.

PS:  I kinda got a kick out of how the most pious person you could recruit was technically a heretic.

And that's why I adored Leliana.  I thought my rather irreverent mage who had a chip on her shoulder about the Chantry would hate Leliana, and they ended up being BFFs.  Leliana has a much more prosocial approach toward the Maker than the Chantry does.  She was win.

I did feel a little bad for depriving her of the epilogue in which she leads pilgrims to the Urn, but I couldn't bring myself to kill the High Dragon.  I thought she was a beautiful, magnificent creature, and I had no right to just go about slaughtering dragons just because they were dangerous.

True.  But it was so pretty!  And I love dragons!  And for a game called Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate had way more dragons.  I had a sad when I realized how few dragons there were.

So basically for Sable, if you're less cool than a dragon, your chances of survival are...mixed.

I did kill the dragon (though I do get your point about not killing it), yet when I spoke to Leliana during the endgame, she said that she was probably going to try to find Marjolaine.

I have to admit, I'm not certain as to what she intends to get out of such a meeting, especially after playing through Leliana's Song.

I figured she decided that Marjolaine needed to die after all.

Yes if only they'd closed his eyelids just a leeeeetle bit more. Oh well, it was still freakin' adorable.

You guys are making me feel crazy for not thinking Leliana was crazy. Except for her ninja loving but I attribute that to a buggy romance. I mean, jeez guys she's a bard. The eyelash thing is metaphorical!

She also claimed she heard the voices of her god telling her to stop the Blight. Because you just needed her so much that the Maker had to come back from vacation to tell her, right? Personally, I think Leliana is deluding herself.

I know her romance his bugged, but it's bugged in all the wrong places, and its hard not to take it personally on her character when she gives you such a hard time.

True enough about the vision, but since she's still able to separate her dream/vision from reality it never bothered me. That would be the dividing line for me between crazy and not-crazy, the difference between say, hearing voices in your head that compel you to do stuff and using a crystal ball or tea leaves or whatever to guide your actions. She had a dream and she interpreted it to mean the Maker wanted her to help me. My Warden didn't really dwell on it too much. I thought her views about religion were pretty sensible on the whole. I guess I view her as more "eccentric" than "insane".

Yeah the ninja-loving is a little bewildering when it happens. I can see how that would make her seem genuinely mental combined with the rest of her personality. It only happened to me once though, and not on my first playthrough thankfully.

Okay I see a thread about same sex romances but not one about the romances in general,so out of curiousity I will make a this thread.

So, what are your hope and dreams about the romances in DA2? What kind of characters do you want to romance?

They better make an awesome male character to replace Alistair Image IPB and Im sure they will.

EDIT:Since the thread is dying I desided to make a poll.If you have any suggestions on what I should add to the poll please post your suggestions in the thread.

Define "awesome." Because as a male when I think "awesome" I think .

Don't think of my referrences to Morri as DA2 exclusive. Room for DLC, sequels...

Which is why I tend to kill Marjolaine, I'd rather not give her the chance to pine for Marjolaine's non-existent "love."

I think romances made me play DA more but i think there should be more choice to romance i think all party members should be romanceable plus the sex scenes were terrible if they were done with the style of heavy rain (sorry there's a guy talking in it)
