Given that Morrigan and Leliana were both human, I'd definitely like to see some non-human LIs this time. Certainly Sigrun would've been awesome in Awakenings, so a dwarf like her in DA2 would definitely make a great LI. Shianni would've been really great as an LI, so somebody like her would be fantastic also. We just need some variety this time, it was the same in BG2 where every LI was an elf, there's no sense in making every LI from the same group, variety is the spice of life!

Please, no Vaughan-like character LI's, BioWare. I'm all for 'Ozai' types who aren't scumbags like Vaughan, but seriously.

I have never been into Leliana but Sigrun melts my heart!!! See my signature? I even commisioned my sis to draw Yuri fanart... I bet my Fem!brosca's Zev would approve threesomes...

So yeah, variety in Romance please!!!

Leliana should take "watching you sleep cutely" lessons from Alistair. I think it'd go over better. Her romance works best for me when I believe in my mind she's bat**** crazy. Helps me deal with the schizo jealousy. ("You lied to me, you slept with Zevan!" "What? I...what?")

Heh, didn't know Leliana (oh Leliana luminous star in my grim Fereldan sky *insert romantic ramblings here*) had bat guano insane jealousy dialogue. Never tried to cheat on her and never found any bugs either. I think I'll try that sooner or later.

Sure she's not completely stable, but not Axe Crazy. I think her insanity is just perfect to make her even more attractive. And the eyelashes dialogue was beautiful. She doesn't want to dismember you and put your organs in several jars or does she, she's just very happy and gushing about her newfound happiness.

If there was was an Elven romance in DA2 I would like to see the overcome of some prejudice obstacles in this matter. Considering the social status of Elves in Ferelden a human who considers an elf as more than just a liaison or a mistress would rise not only many eyebrows but a lot of protest I assume.

So friends of Hawke should try to intervene and try to talk him/her out of this "silly idea" (in their view)

I like the options we've had for female LIs... I think that more of what we've been getting there would be fine.



I feel like there needs to be a more badass male LI for femHawkes, though. Like when I play the female character, she's kind of a badass, and it doesn't make much sense for her to have a cutesy relationship, so sometimes I avoid relationships with her altogether.

So I was reading this post from a dev back when dao first came out and it said the glitch to have a romance with both Leliana and Morrigan was intended. Like you could sleep with both, aslong as you slept with morrigan first, but could only romance one. Be a cool feature to see in DA2 and we need some more catfights in DA2. That love triangle was the best. damaged goods vs bad girl lol

Personally I hope there is no "romance". Ever since Mass Effect, it seems like every BioWare game is almost as much as a dating sim as it is an RPG. I mean seriously, there are a couple 30 second sex scenes in Mass Effect and people fall in LOVE with the characters.

We can like or hate characters as well, why not develop an innocent crush? It's a sign of good writing.
You probably didn't mean what you said, as I can't imagine anyone enjoying these kinds of games if you truly felt no emotion towards NPCs at all.

I like sex as much as the next guy, 1)but people totally over-react to the "romance" content in the games. They remind me of the Japanese guys that marry pillows, and 2)BioWare seems to cater to them, that is all. I mean some people on this forum are saying they won't buy the game if there is no sex. I can't believe how much people care. Also, at least the ME1 romance scenes were somewhat tasteful, the DA ones look like a softcore porno made by a modder in a few hours.

1.  No that was the media pretty much going nuts over a side breast shot and side rear shot all of 30 seconds.  No fill breasts or privates shown, no pornlike actions .. nothing.  It's stupid really.

2.  I don't think so.  BioWare has been making such romance choices for quite a while, and I don't want BioWare to stop.

It's all about choice.  Beating the proverbial horse here, but (/dons glasses and monotone voice) you don't have to go down a romance option if you don't want to as you are not forced to (/end monotone).  Why be ticked over CHOICE?

The problem with a lot of the romances is that BioWare inevitably ends up using the same shy/nice guy or ice queen as the love interest every single time. It's boring and you can see it coming a mile away. How many times am I going t have to meet Carth/Alistair/Kaiden or Mission/Liara or Bastila/Miranda/Morrigan? If anything, it's lazy writing.

I will agree with you on the bolded part especially after reading that chart someone made up of BioWare romance tropes.  Or Carth Syndrome as it has been labeled.  That's why I want a different type of male romance as described by David Gaider:

I'm thinking Clive Owens, myself. The kind of guy with that broken-nose ruggedness, the sort that would pick you up like you weighed a feather and throw you against the wall to kiss you. The sort that growls more than he talks, that sort of thing. I'll have to try writing someone like that sometime.

ORLY?  How do you know this?  Honestly that is sort of a stretching guess there.  I think it's funny you comment on it like fact then say it isn't a factor. 

Anywhoodle, I like romances and hope they stay.   CHOICE is KING! or QUEEN!  Yes, I admit, I get attached to the characters.  That is what is called good writing, the same way you are pulled into a book or movie.  If the writing sucked you wouldn't stay or continue reading, right?  Well by having me care for my companions I really take teh time to learn about them, make sure they are well equipped and get really ticked at the creature that killed them where I beat said creature til they are dead.

Man don't even get me started on Aerith in FF7.

I hope, bioware give the female Hawke some options for romance with different character, one maybe a romantic, one a gentleman, but also a bad boy. An please make more demanding! I was playing in DA at first time with a romantic part (bevore "cough" Spellforce...) As i found out it, i was in the middle of the game. This surprised me very much. And then i couldn´t stop it. I had them all! But sometimes it was to easy. Give some gifts, make a little bit sweet conversation, and hop... to the tent. Only the mods could make it a little bit more interesting. I know, romance is not the focus of the game, but it make it so much better!!!

I know it's been said before, but I was disappointed that Alistair wasn't a same-sex romance option (like Leliana).

I mean, the guy was shy and sensitive (when he gave my female Warden a rose, I actually laughed out loud because *I* did the exact same thing in real life when I was in denial about my sexuality (I even told the girl I thought I liked that "this rose is *almost* as beautiful as you are" ) 

Alistair was also a virgin, which, considering his age and looks, was hard for me to fathom (he even used the whole "oh well I was raised in the Chantry" excuse, but how many gay men become priests because it's a convenient explanation as to why they've never had a girlfriend...? If Alistair really liked girls, I'm sure a sister would have been willing to give him a go)

Anyway, I just hope DA2 doesn't go the way of ME2 and not allow ANY same-sex romance options...

unless there will be a male Qunari party member. Sten broke my fragile heart, it needs to be remedied. Varric is a given, just look at his chest.

And Ponytail, true. She has to be in DA2. Or at least her hairstyle.

i love Bioware's romances that they put in their games. If they weren't in there to spice things up, i might even boycott.



and for those of you who are complaining about romances... keep in mind as others have said... THEY ARE OPTIONAL! So keep romance in for the many who like it!
