I'd like to see more short cut scenes here and there while at camp. Walks, sitting around the fire eating together, and things like that. Doesn't have to be every time you camp, but from time to time so as to add some sort of humanity to the relationship.

I'd like to see you emerge from the tent or whatever when the cut scenes of "going to bed" are over instead of just appearing in the middle of camp.

I would like to see some sort of reaction from the love interest should you fall in battle or start to take a bad beating.

Most of all I'd like to see a continuing dialog about events that have taken place post romance, rather than the same ones over and over and over

Argh there WAS a game that had this in it, and Maker help me I can't remember what it was.

I think an old DnD type one.  I think it was in an order if you fell in battlet hey got a bonus to fighting since they were so ticked off.

>>3. Give me people who care about what happens to me: If my family is slaughtered, tell me how sorry you are. If I get the crap beat out of me or I'm torn apart emotionally by some tragic event, ask me how I am. I'm really tired of NPCs worrying about each other and expecting me to be tough enough to deal with it. Let me be comforted, too. Especially by my romanceable. Let them catch me by surprise with a thoughtful gift to cheer me up, or pull me aside to ask if I'm okay.

Agreed, I want some support from my LI - some concern for my well being, rather than silence and, after a certain point in the game, dismissal with nothing new to say. There were moments in the ME series where I would really have liked my LI to come up and offer some sympathetic words, or just joke foolishly with me to try and lighten the stress.

The more I think about it, I would have liked it a bit with less emphasis on "them" and some about "me".  Granted IRL I am a great listener for other people and do really care.  But like IRL I want people to ask how I'm doing after something happened.

Hopefully that will get changed.

I think the love scenes were tastefully done; they were just a bit naff and somewhat embarassing. I giggled like a school girl.

I thought they were ok too, but they HAVE to get rid of the underwear.

edit - I didn't find them embarrassing, except for the underwear.  That I found embarrassing.  :)

The underwear was kinda wierd.  But what really got me is the odd way my female's head bent in the one scene where Alistair is laying her down.  Like she had some akward extra vertebrae.  Everytime I see that scene my mind goes "bwaaah?"

Post quoted below, but I can see the want for such a character like Bishop.  He was a bad ass and not afraid to say it like it was.  Nothing you did could change him though, perfect for anyone running a Chaotic or evil like character as their Hawke.  Might also be a good choice for the Bi character so both Hawke's can have a go.

Actually, to add-onto this discussion, I actually -really- loved the idea of the unrepetant evil romanceable companion, and honestly, as I wrote in one other thread before this, I would absolutely adore such an option. Someone who has ambition, and perhaps is even using you to an extent for an ends to a means...

I agree with this sentiment.

I would like to be given another companion (and possible love interest) that is driven by a vice such as greed or vanity and is unapologetic for it. .

Ooooh anyone else remember the NWN2 threads? There's nothing quite like a controversial character like Bishop haha. Some people just can't stand that type of personality, but he made the game for me. Image IPB It would be great to see someone like that in a BW game, I agree.

edit: not that we can forget about Edwin from Baldur's Gate, as amusingly and unrepentantly evil as I could ever hope for. Image IPB

I do agree they need someone like this, and I would want him to only romance someone who is equally bad.  I probably would not go in that direction, but it should be available.

As we are talking about romances, i'd like to mention my opinion on the approval system. In my opinion they should remove the stat bonuses that come from approval, since it encourages you to be oh-so-nice to everyone. I'd like to be hated by someone without losing those stats. And also, the gift system needs to be worked on.

That's why I believe they are taking a different approach with this, as you can get a bonus even if the companion hates you.

Once I found out that at the end of DA:O you can use all your companions when fighting, I'm like "Crap!" and spent alot of my next play through making them like me even when I couldn't stand the buggers.  Ugh like I"m always trying to please other people.

It would be cool if there were more
dramatic scenes where stuff could occur more organically. Like during
"romantic moments" or something. Perhaps the PC could even initiate
these romantic moments, like asking the LI if they want to go on a walk
or whatever. Or maybe just during more personal and deep conversations.

And
it's not just romance stuff either...arguments and maybe even brawls
would be cool too.

I so agree! That would be a lot nicer and more natural. The romances are a bit too formulaic in that regard; in real life, you'd do more than just stand staring dead-eyed at your love interest. You'd sit beside the fire, walk around, maybe stare up at the moon... they could make the romances so interesting and compelling that way, that I think even people who usually don't dig them would feel drawn in.

Hawke: O.O Lovely day today.
LI: O.O Yes it is.
Hawke: O.O Shall we stare at each other somemore, dear?
LI: O.O Yes, love.
*both stare blankly at each other.  Can't you just feel the love?*

My problem with the romances, and with all party member relationships really, is that they're resolved too quickly and with no real purpose.

It's all

"Oh? Yes, I am very interested in that terrible thing that happened to you when you were a child/teenager/five minutes before joining my party. Yes, yes, it was terrible and you did/did not bring it on yourself and now are a better person. Yes I would be interested in a cheesy sex scene with hilariously bad fantasy music playing in the background thank you for asking/Yes, I consider you my best friend in the whole world. Now that we're in love forever/BFFs and you have your +6 to your primary stat, I never need to talk to you again, right?"

There's no real reason for them, outside the above mentioned +6 to a stat. They're definitely the weakest part of the writing, which is fitting as they're hardly the focus, but if they're going to be there I just think they should be more organic, have more integration into the actual plot, and take longer.

I demand that male Hawke has misogynistic lines.

Edit: If Shepard can punch women...i dont think that making Hawke misogynistic is asking to much.

I would like to see some sort of reaction from the love interest should you fall in battle or start to take a bad beating.

I would love if they like ran to your side (despite orders) and helped you out. Or if you fainted in battle they mention it and say they're are glad you're okay.

Let's not forget that everything will be told by Varric.
So technically, Varric tells exactly how Hawke and his LI got together

Varric: "And so his/her journey began..."

1 year passes: "But Hawke didn't get anything"

2 years pass: " And Hawke still didn't get some!"

3 years pass: "Don't even think about it :P "

.........................   10 years, before the final battle: "Oh by the way, the night before, Hawke got lucky" B)

Oh you remind me of the moment i pressed by accident on Alistair, and he suddently wanted to tell how much he loves me...near a dead bronto in the Deep Roads. Good work Alistair!

I would really like some intimate/romantic moments. :DWalking, or sitting besides the fire as you said.

I just want my romancible qunari chick with HUGE horns. Those aren't horns baby. They're handle bars...to hold on for the RIDE! o.O

That aside, I am looking forward to all aspects of the game. Heck, spanning 10 years offers so much possibility. I am wondering how they are going to do it justice by the vague release date they've offered. It's coming out in 2011 supposedly.
