I would assume that the romances will change from DA 1 to DA 2 as they did from ME 1 to ME 2. If that's a good or a bad thing, is a matter of opinion.

yeah that's what some folks are afraid of.

by some folks i mean me.

wtf terrible. Bioware took a huge dump on ME1 rommances and said screw you to them in ME2. Pretty much the desicion you made in ME1 determined a cameo in ME2

Can someone explain the fear of ME2 romances to me?

I'm waiting until the 3rd and final one comes out so I can just buy the entire series.

A sane woman who isn't a golem would be nice. (and don't kill her for dramatic effect)

As long as almost every party member is romanceable(and yes I also mean those slightly older than your PC) I'll be happy

You need to be extra nice to it and bring a lot of comb gifts.

Any bioware game without romance simply doesn't make sense.

I certainly hope it has romances in it. I don't understand why some people are so dead-set against them. I know it's an easy target to pick on those who really enjoy them, but think about it: what kind of epic tale ever doesn't include a love story? What you guys seem to want is a Rambo movie instead. /barf

Action is nice and all, but that's not what is so great about these games. Might as well just play any of the other hundreds of action games out there. What makes DA (and the ME franchise for that matter) so great is the story, the drama, and the relationships.

I just hope that there are some really great options. I ME1 I wasn't thrilled with either Ashley OR Liara, but I went with Ashley since it seemed like it might be the more dramatic story (since she was against the idea because of regs and whatnot...the fact that after that first talk she never even MENTIONS regs again and even gets JEALOUS without the slightest explanation for why regulations don't matter to her anymore is a matter for a different thread in an ME forum). Then ME2 comes out, and OMG I love Jack. And Miranda. Both are so much more interesting than Ashely. And yet, on that playthrough, I stuck with Ashley, hoping that the payoff in ME3 will be that much better. Since then I've played other playthroughs and romanced Jack (awesome storyline there), but then you have to trade off the history you could've had if she were in ME1.

Anyway...sorry for the derail. I just hope there is at least one option that can hold a candle to Morrigan or Jack.

In my opinion, romances add depth to your character's story and make it more interesting. It can affect the choices your character makes and really put a different twist on the plot. Everyone has a different opinion though, and so luckily they are optional for those who don't like...

I hope they keep the 2 romance options for each gender and make them more indepth. I would hate to see them go back to only 1 option.

the only wish about romances is that they add some kind of protection so no more god-demon-witch-childs are born to mess with community :]

I thought about something that could actually satisfy just about everyone.
1 love interest.
customizable character.
Base his or her personality on Hawke's choices (If hawke leans evil the LI leans evil)

For bonus points it could be someone who adds an additional connection back to Origins like the Godchild or the heir of whoever you put in power.

Nerds want to bang video game chicks anyway. Romances in game have no impact on nerd hornyness.
Proof: Lara Croft.

Now THAT'S something I want to see.
Or a female warrior companion. Really why they always have to be rogues ?! :(

I wanna do some ''spare matches'' with her as we are 2 strong warriors. ( dont remind me whole Mhairi thingy ! )

Personally I hope there is no "romance". Ever since Mass Effect, it seems like every BioWare game is almost as much as a dating sim as it is an RPG. I mean seriously, there are a couple 30 second sex scenes in Mass Effect and people fall in LOVE with the characters.

It's ridiculous.

Romances add a unique and fun direction to the game. They let you develop the relationships of other characters beyond what a simple platonic relationship would have been. There's another word for it... let me think... oh yeah! Role Play. You know, the first two letters in the genre of RPG. (The genre of the games you apparently play).

LOL! Oh, and a note to people that hate the idea of romances...no one's making you play them, you know that, right? So any possible pique is just pointless spoiling of other people's fun for no good reason. Or is that the point?

extra points if "funny perfect shy girl" turns out to be Morrigan's daughter. That would be something to smirk about ^_^

I can see a non-romancable scenario.

Villager - ''Thank you for saving our town! Here take this gold and item''

Hawke(Yea I am using it ! ) - '' Thanks, these will helkp a great deal.''

*Awkard silence for 5 min*

Hawke - '' Well.... that's it ? ''

Villager - ''Yes... now be on your way for the next boss. ''

*At camp*

Hawke - ''Did you see how I saved all the village and saved your parents while I am at it ?''

Possible Female Companion ( I will call her PFC........yea that ) - ''Yes , I am grateful''+10 approval

Hawke - ''It was no big.''

PFC - ''If you excuse me I need to prepare for battle now.''

Hawke - '' What that's it ? A thank you and some approval ? Where is my kiss ? ''

PFC - ''We can't be more then friends in the eve of battle, Hawke.''

Hawke - '' Even after I act like a heroic badass and save that village? ''

PFC - ''No.''

Hawke - '' What about saving your parents ? ''

PFC - '' For that , you have my thanks, thats all''

Hawke - ''Screw this , I am going to hunt down some darkspawn'' * Storms off*

PFC - '' He is not nice'' -10 approval.

A ''little'' part of ''A Dragon Age without Romance'' !
