extra points if "funny perfect shy girl" turns out to be Morrigan's daughter. That would be something to smirk about ^_^

She would be like 10 dude.. right?

We don't know how long after DA:O DA2 is set, the "Ten Years" thing is for how long the plot of DA2 streches NOT how long its been since Origins.  .  . yeesh so many people seem to be making that mistake

Romance is a element of writing.

Don't argue with me because I DO WRITE A LOT! It doesn't have to have it, but with a story that takes place over a long period of time (ESPECIALLY ten years!) it would seem pretty normal and realistic for a romantic interest to show up at one point or another. I'm not the type to fan-girl hype over a character over a sex scene (I'd rather give the occasional hug and / or kiss and I might hype if the character is well-written, but I DO have boundaries and know they're not real and don't go crazy like everyone else), so I wouldn't know about others that do.

It would be nice to reverse things a bit, morrigan is the bad girl that slowly turns good and warms to you and Alistar is the funny perfect shy guy.

Reverse? Bad boy, funny perfect shy girl?

Explanation sounded better in my brain...

Like, ummm, Zevran and Leliana?

My friend has fallen in love with Alistair.

She has a picture of him in her bedroom.

A lot of us are still single, unfortunately... So these romance in games keep us going. At least we can tell others 'there's this girl that I like' .....(in Ferelden...)

However, much of the romance and interactions in DAO is the courting part, the phase where the warden is developing a relationship with another npc. Therefore, I would like to see more about the phase where both are actually in a relationship, and how both try to support each other throughout the course. Thank you.

Ooo, I am so sorry!
The most pictures of a not real character(s) is a poster of Dean Winchester and Sam Winchester (Supernatural) on the wall, and that's mainly for me to point at the wall when my friends that are in LOVE with Edward Cullen from Twilight come over and ask me why I just glare at them in disgust. I simply say, "'Cause I believe in boys that don't sparkle, and I know they're not real."

I guess I was lucky to be up in the clouds enough to make crap up but down to earth enough that I'm not unrealistic.

I'd really like some more variety in the romanceable characters, being as they're always so crazily similar from game to game. Perhaps a serious but nice chick, and a badass dude (who doesn't have a dead wife, please)?

Regardless, the 10-year timespan should put an interesting spin on the romances.

I'd like to see the ten year span taken advantage of. Hawke could meet a nice lady who's already involved with another man and somehow he manages to destroy their completely perfect, stable, and healthy relationship for his own personal whims over the course of several years.

Just no more middle aged fathers, please. Thane, Carth, and Sky (not exactly middle aged but a father none the less) were enough.

Well, judging from Dragon Age 2's splash screen none of the original characters will be coming back. And, as past experience has shown us, no matter what we want Bioware is going to do their own thing. That all being said, my hope is that the romancing part of Dragon Age will be back. I personally would like to see more romance options between characters. It matters not about sexual preference, so long that there is romance. I would also like to see a deeper more fluid character development, albeit through dialogue or cut scene flashbacks and the like. Perhaps, however, I am asking too much of Bioware's writers. As always I would hate to buy it and be disappointed. Thanks.

Personally I hope there is no "romance". Ever since Mass Effect, it seems like every BioWare game is almost as much as a dating sim as it is an RPG. I mean seriously, there are a couple 30 second sex scenes in Mass Effect and people fall in LOVE with the characters.

It's ridiculous.

Why?
We can like or hate characters as well, why not develop an innocent crush? It's a sign of good writing.
You probably didn't mean what you said, as I can't imagine anyone enjoying these kinds of games if you truly felt no emotion towards NPCs at all.

I enjoy these games putting in 0 emotion.*wierd in my opinion*

In addition to having PC/NPC romances, have NPC/NPC romances. not just arranged marriges or sex, real heartfelt relationships. have the charaters have conficlts and misunderstandings just like real couples. Be well written. make any sex scenes less ridicuos/ awkward than last time, unless it fits the charaters.

That would be cute for a party member to fall in love with another party member ^^ And you could talk about it to the party member. Like tease him/her about it or play match maker and push for them to get together.

Okay I see a thread about same sex romances but not one about the romances in general,so out of curiousity I will make a this thread.

So, what are your hope and dreams about the romances in DA2? What kind of characters do you want to romance?

They better make an awesome male character to replace Alistair Image IPB and Im sure they will.

Romance where you treat your Love interest badly.Sleep with other people.Betray them. And over the 10 years in the end they come back crawling. Then you get the choice as to whether or not you keep them.

A necessary feature of any dark fantasy trying to take itself seriously.

Totally. When I'm immersed in a gritty, grimdark world where peasants desperately scrounge together scraps of garbage to keep their ribs from meeting their spine and corruption and injustice run rampant, I immediately think to myself "wouldn't alice and bill look cute together?! let's set them up!"

I've never played a spousal abuse simulator. Could be interesting.

Actually, Mass Effect had something similar to what you mentioned. No matter how much of a d*ck you are to Liara, she still wants to jump your bones, unless you explicitly lay it out for her that you're not interested.
