It would be nice to reverse things a bit, morrigan is the bad girl that slowly turns good and warms to you and Alistar is the funny perfect shy guy.

Reverse? Bad boy, funny perfect shy girl?

Explanation sounded better in my brain...

I haven't noticed that Morrigan is slowly turns good. We dont know the end of her story yet..
Shes pregnant with a demon baby after all, and we have no idea what are her intensions with the child.

I'm sure that there'll be romances in DA2. Romances are part of the game.

I dont mind the sex scenes tho...

I just say make all companions in DA2 romanceable. Let the play decide who they want to be with. But it should be hard and very tricky to land a romance in the game. Not just 1 or 2 lines of dialogue and the person falls for you.

I'd definitely like to see romances extend past the courting stage. If the game covers a 10 year span, that would be an awfully long courtship. And while I loved the romances in DA, it definitely felt like once you had gotten your LI's approval maxed, there were few conversations left to be had with them, especially at big plot decision moments. I felt my HN who romanced Zevran should've been able to talk to him about killing Howe, for instance.

Personally I hope there is no "romance". Ever since Mass Effect, it seems like every BioWare game is almost as much as a dating sim as it is an RPG. I mean seriously, there are a couple 30 second sex scenes in Mass Effect and people fall in LOVE with the characters.

It's ridiculous.

Why? I don't  want a 2 dimensional hack and slash game, if you want that by a 1st person shooter and leve us RPers alone. I simply hate when we get a hack and slash mongrode on the boards. <_<

this.

Bioware has a solid history of balancing storytelling and action in a way other companies don't. The combat system might not be perfect but it's ok because the story is so effin good you HAVE to know how it ends.
They scrap the story part and you're left with another shooter/hackNslash but with crappy cover system and tactics that don't always work right.

I fully agree. If the story takes place over 10 years (and possibly more time), romance should go past courting. 'Tis very realistic!

Also, don't make them 'hard to get' like Morrigan? I mean, does the warden even mean anything to her?? She's mean to resent love simply because of a mirror.

I agree with moving pass the courting phase. Support of each other should be a factor.

When about to make major decisions, we should be able to consult other NPCs, and the love interest would support the warden even if others hated the decision (eg. Elanee in NWNII. Remember Elanee was really nice and supportive of the hero... too bad nothing happened between them!!)

I hope they DO offer at least one "hard to get" option. Morrigan was great because you could see her character growing and changing, and it was due almost entirely to her relationship with the Warden (whether romantic or platonic).
Plus, maybe it's just me, or maybe there are more like me out there, but I vastly prefer it when there are tons of obstacles. That's why I'm such a huge fan of Morrigan, and why I liked Jack so much in ME2. And why I THOUGHT I was going to like Ashley in ME1. It has so much more of an epic feel when love conquers all the obstacles, rather than there not being any obstacles in the first place. So whether it's baggage from a screwed up childhood (Morrigan/Jack) or regulations (like it should have been with Ashley), the more things threatening to kill the romance, the better.

Give the women the dark, border-line evil and yet suitably vulnerable romance option. A Tevinter blood mage would make my Fem!Hawke happy.

Do you mean just "hard to get" or specifically "hard to get like morrigan" where she comes off as hard-to-get until you give her a mirror then all of a sudden she's jumping in bed with you?
The former: More please! The challenge is half the fun!
The latter: I've already expressed my feeling about gold-digging as a romance system.

Actually, Im just saying we tried so hard and done so much for her and yet she doesnt give a cr*p about the warden's feelings for her (even after sleeping with her). When I was playing the game I was like 'What's your problem, woman?' She is indeed gold digging. First telling us to rid off Flemeth, then the ritual, then she runs away. I guess challenge is alright as long as it not too far and is rewarding. Romancing Leliana was not that hard but felt real special.

That would be cute for a party member to fall in love with another party member ^^ And you could talk about it to the party member. Like tease him/her about it or play match maker and push for them to get together.

A necessary feature of any dark fantasy trying to take itself seriously.

Totally. When I'm immersed in a gritty, grimdark world where peasants desperately scrounge together scraps of garbage to keep their ribs from meeting their spine and corruption and injustice run rampant, I immediately think to myself "wouldn't alice and bill look cute together?! let's set them up!"

:l Yeah,I saw that coming. Whatever guys, its just an idea.

Don't listen to them; it's a good idea. As much as people like to say it is, DA is not "dark fantasy." Does it have a few darker elements? Sure. But it's chock full of comic relief. Like, filled to the brim.

And it doesn't have to be cutesy "omg they would make such a cute couple!!!111" stuff. It could be a source of some pretty heavy conflict as well. Love triangles, for example, are perfect drama fodder. There's a reason they've been at the center of innumerable works of literature for hundreds of years.

And anyway, there's plenty of "cutesy" stuff in DAO already. Schmooples, anyone?

Some intrigue in terms of the romances of the companions could be interesting. Again it's the ten year time span talking. All sorts of drama and betrayal can happen in ten years. I can easily see a set-up where Hawke's affection for one companion slowly drives another one crazy with jealousy... has a nice shakespearean tragedy thing to it and that's pretty darn dark and gritty.

I enjoyed DA romance with Alistair a lot. And in ME I enjoyed the romance with Kaiden. My first choice is Carth. The flirting and teasing flowed in KOTOR. Both romances were great. Bastila would get flustered - great fun.

Definitely some humor, some flirting and teasing. . And more than one choice is always good. I didn't really find Zevran appealing, but the idea of different types of romances is a good one. Leliana was an interesting character and I have no problem with same sex romances. I figure it's unrealistic but this is a wish list so I'll wish.

1 choice for the woman who likes the "bad" boy;

1 choice for the woman who likes the funny, kind guy who believes you can take care of yourself and fights along side you; Someone with all the Alistair, Carth and Kaidan traits.

1 choice for men who appreciate a woman who can take care of herself

1 choice for the men who, I don't know, want a woman who will let them protect her? Not sure what guys want.

and 2 same-sex people. Intelligent and funny.

and who knows a couple of surprise choices.

Maybe it'll be like in Fable. Dance around and show off against a random target, wait until the heart above the target gets full, then get a ring and get married.

In that case I will die laughing if my DA2 mate says "I have planted my seed in most fertile ground."

mongrode? what?

Just because I would like to see character development other than "lets have an awkward touching scene in our underwear?"
