That would be cute for a party member to fall in love with another party member ^^ And you could talk about it to the party member. Like tease him/her about it or play match maker and push for them to get together.

Heh, well that's a good idea!

Funnily enough it never crossed my mind, but now that I saw it, my first reaction was "what, why didn't they try something like this already?"

So... why didn't they? Any thoughts?

EDIT: Yeah, sure there was Oghren, but come on! Did that really count?! His "old flame" was outside the Warden's group.

I seem to recall the DEVs for ME1 saying they had intended for Kaiden and Ashley to hookup assuming the player either didnt romance anyone or romanced Liara, but this was of course scrapped for obvious reasons if you beat the game.

So...We know it's crossed their minds at one point at least.

So, when the game really spreads ten years, then they better implement more than just a mere romance, damn it.

This is soo girly, guys want stuff hapenning to them, since this is a fantasy setting in a game we are playing, it'd be less devastating to our self esteem if all the ladies fawn over us instead of some fake character ... unless its lesbians, then its ok and we'd like to watch.

It would actually be interesting to see a few companions getting a little flirty with one another in the game. It would definitely make the world seem more real. NPC with their own romances going on within the group and having a few conversation. With our hawke and his comments on it. I just see epic and greatness here. Image IPB

I guess I'll throw in my 2 cents. In Me 1 I romanced Ashley. I stayed true to her in ME 2. I've been promised something awesome with her in ME 3. In KOTOR I romanced Bastila. However I never really liked any of the other romances in the games. In Dragon Age I loved all 4 romance choices. Morrigan is awesome. Alistair is freaking funny and Zevran was great. Leliana however was the first ever fictional character I actually kinda felt real feelings for. It kinda scared the carp outta me. I especially liked how just giving her gifts doesn't lead to sex like it does with the others. You actually have to get to know her. I also liked how she would ninja romance me in other playthroughs and I would be all, umm I'm with Morrigan. I hope the romances stay DA style. They're my favorites.

They did in BG2. Once Herdalis was supposed to be a romance option for a female pc, but that romance was cut  and he now romances Aeri if the player has them both in the party but does not romance her.

Okay I see a thread about same sex romances but not one about the romances in general,so out of curiousity I will make a this thread.

So, what are your hope and dreams about the romances in DA2? What kind of characters do you want to romance?

They better make an awesome male character to replace Alistair Image IPB and Im sure they will.

Hi Fangirl, great topic! Image IPB

Hmmm let's see...

I have loved the personalities of the male characters in the DA world so far. Well I just loved Alistair and I would have loved to see a romance involving Image IPBNathaniel, Justice or Anders,Image IPB they were lovely characters too.

It would be wonderful if there was a choice as in DA origins.

For instance many ladies loved the Alistair Image IPBchoice but also many loved the 'bad boy' Zevran.

Mass Effect 2 romance styles didnt work for me, there was not enough dialogue or chances to really 'get to know' the romanceable character. (Well I did love the Image IPBKaidenImage IPB romance..'swoon' but there should have been more lovey dovey stuff with him, hehe)

So I just hope we have more interesting and lovable male and female companions to chat too, romance and have fun
and adventure with For me choices are SO important.

Another reason I love choices because then I have another reason to replay the game to see how an alternate romance choice would play out. DA origins is the only game in my long history of gaming that I have replayed over and over and over and over (and so on) Much of that was because of the romance options and of course the origins options and ending options.

Lets hope they give us more of that replayability with DA2.

Oh and I love the romanceable characters to be funny, that always goes down well! I had a real soft spot for Nathaniel and he was very serious and intense at times so thats attractive too!

I just love LOVE! Image IPB I can't wait to see what Bioware comes up with!

Oh and I am also hoping other developers jump on the bandwagon and start trying to compete with Bioware with this as there are too few good games with romance in them. Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

It is a nice idea isn't it. I remember a thread in the ME2 boards dedicated to that idea all sparking from Mr. Heavy Risk and Ms. Perfect.

I hope that Dragon Age 2 takes the same take on romance as it did in Dragon Age: Origins.

Now with the voice acting, I'm scared that it'll influence the direction of their views on romance ala Mass Effect....aka, no homosexual romances. Which I don't mind...but frown upon a company that's had the balls to do it once before.

I'd like to see a love interest for a female Hawke that offers something new.  Anomen/Carth/Kaiden/Thane/Alistair all covered the paladin "let's save the world together" type.

It's supposed to be a dark and gritty world. I am tired of seeing the "loyal soldier, devoted father/widower mourning his long dead wife" kinda guy. Where is the male companion that will enjoy blowing up stuff with me or slaughtering the innocent?

Give us a Canderous, (better looking) Zaeed or another Atton.

Since they insist on putting a Canderous clone in nearly every one of their games, I think it's time to let the ladies start romancing him. Romancing the tough badass merc/warrior guy would make a nice change of pace especially for those of us who don't find emotional virgin awkward dudes their cup of tea.

Hahahahah I think we posted almost the same thing within five minutes of each other.  Awesome.

Don't get me wrong.  I enjoyed some of the paladin types quite a bit (although not really Alistair or Anomen) but damn would it be nice to see something completely different.

People who don't like romances are aware of the fact that they're entirely optional, right?

Sometimes I wonder. It's as if people are simply upset by the principle that they're in the game at all.

I'm pretty sure we'll get romances, and I hope we actually have more options than in DA:O. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed a lot of the romances (mainly Alistair) but I'd like some more. Though this is definately not high up on my DA2 priority list.

YES just agreeing with Subzero0 and Prisoner 24601. (trying not to fill my post with swooning over Sten haha) <3

I don't know, though, even after BW's great track record with their amazing characters they consistently surprise me, so I'm looking forward to whoever our companions are regardless. Even if I can't romance my favorite one, I can always...pretend? Kinda?

Although that could prove interesting if they were the ones that ended up in an inter-party/NPC romance (which is a cool idea anyway) and I had to witness it.

I'ma gonna copy a post I made on a different thread. It would practically be the same comment so... two birds with one stone...

To be honest I want to see love scenes that fit the characters. I'll use DA1 companions as examples.

Morrigan: she was direct, practical and treated sex with indifference (heh, sort of like Jack in ME2). Her love scene should have been more aggressive, rough. It should have felt like she wanted it badly, like she could just take it if she wanted to (I'm being serious, I'm an adult and the game WAS rated M after all...).

Leliana: I think this was supposed to be the "neutral" one, but still something that showed love, not "just another lay". I don't remember if the girl-on-girl was any different than the girl-on-guy.

Alistair: well... what the hell can I say. This man was foremost a virgin (duh, reason enough to make a different scene). He was the kind of guy that didn't treat sex with indifference (as opposed to Morrigan), he wanted to wait until the perfect moment, and HE RESPECTED WOMEN! Well, I'm happy to say that this WAS rectified in a mod by the very talented DahliaLynn. However the others were not.

Zevran: this was the only good one. Zevran's sex scenes were truly SEX scenes. He was the one who mastered pleasuring others in bed, and his sex scenes actually reflected that. He was the one who took the lead, because he KNEW he had more experience, and that was simply great.

In the end what I want most of all is to see the love. If two people are in love, then that love should also be there when they're MAKING LOVE, be they heterosexuals, homosexuals or lesbian. I wanna feel like it meant something. I really care about my companions, after spending hours upon hours of talking with them, I get attached (come on, who doesn't AT LEAST like Alistair). That depends, of course, if the VO is done right - which it was, in DA1.

Now comes the problem: all that caring for companions just wasn't there in ME1 and 2. Why? I'm not sure. For me, it felt like there wasn't enough conversation, like romantic involvements felt rushed and awkward. I was really hoping for more conversation in ME2, especially between male friends. I always thought of Garrus as a friend, maybe even a good friend (or a best friend, really). I was expecting some "guy talk" in ME2. What did I get, 2 (TWO) CONVERSATIONS. That's all... W.T.F?! The second conversations was the only real "friend talk" you could have.

Now before you scream "OFF-TOPIC", the reason I said all that was because we're getting hints that Dragon Age is going Mass Effect style. Personally, I think they're gonna emulate Mass Effect in the Dragon Age universe, and to be honest - I can live with that; but - and yes, there is a butt - I'm concerned about what's gonna happen with the companion system from DA1. It was very flexible, you could start/end a relation at any time, if you wanted to be an a-hole, you could sleep with all possible romantic interests and so on. If they're gonna make DA2 like Mass Effect then you will no longer have the same control over relations.

Now comes the good part (and I must say this is the part that I find most interesting): if the game takes you through 10 years of Hawke's life, then that could mean a lot of GREAT possibilities for romantic involvements. Marriage, children, adultery - I dunno about you, but I'd really want to see such a combo in a game like Dragon Age. It would be a whole other level of role-playing, and not necessarily a bad one.

This is where it shows that everything is subject to personal preferences.

I loved the Alistair relationship and I felt the love he had for whoever I was playing.  He is the guy you marry and live happily with for the rest of your life.  He's not for everyone, but he was close enough to perfect for a lot of us. And maybe I misunderstood your post, but Respecting women is a good thing, if they respect you.  Alistair was a friend and a lover.  That's a combination that is hard to beat.

Zevran was a good character.  i killed him more than once.  Sexual experience does not necessarily mean a good future and while one of my elves saw a future with him, He was not a character I was drawn too and that is part of the joy of rpgs.   Especially ones where BioWare gives us different options.

ME1 did need more conversations and ME2, well more e-mails from Kaidan would have been welcome. Plus I agree we should be able to be friends with them.  I liked this in DA.  But  i enjoyed the Kaidan romance a lot.  Liked talking to him.  Probably for the same reason as I enjoyed the Alistair one.  I liked the character.

I'm not sure how I would feel about getting married during the game play.  I'm all for as many choices as possible but I have big doubts about marriage and kids.  I wouldn't mind one of my companions leaving to get married and have kids and 8 or 9 years later coming back for some reason.   I will wait and see.  I don't think they would go the Fable route. (at least hope not)

I'd like to see more short cut scenes here and there while at camp. Walks, sitting around the fire eating together, and things like that. Doesn't have to be every time you camp, but from time to time so as to add some sort of humanity to the relationship.

I'd like to see you emerge from the tent or whatever when the cut scenes of "going to bed" are over instead of just appearing in the middle of camp.

I would like to see some sort of reaction from the love interest should you fall in battle or start to take a bad beating.

Most of all I'd like to see a continuing dialog about events that have taken place post romance, rather than the same ones over and over and over

I agree. with all of your ideas.   I liked it when Wynne questioned me about my relationships.  Even if I told her to mind her own business or thanked her for her concern.  I liked the idea that the relationship was noticed by the others.  And I don't think you can ever have too much dialog spread throughout the game.
