The PC now speaks, the combat is quasi-actiony, the origin stories (hands down the best part of all of DA) are gone, and the sequel is released soon. Yeah, that's all co-incidence. Has nothing to do with BiowEAr being told by their corporate masters to make a more ME-styled game.

Remember that prediction that DA would sell 2x the units of ME? About that...let's get that PC talking, ok?

1: Has there been confirmation of a VA'd pc? Link please (not saying there hasn't I just want to see if there were any more details).

2: How was "hit badguy with sword" or "zap badguy with spell" not actiony? Did I miss some patch that turned all the fights in DA:O into a turn-based system instead of a well choreographed (if you used your tactics of course) bar brawl in the woods?

3: Where was it stated that origin stories were gone? Various races are no longer playable but that doesn't mean you can't have power over Hawke's origin.

4: So the sequel will be released soon. People keep pointing that out as a flaw but  I don't understand how that's relevant to anything. Computers get more advanced every year. Why is it hard to believe a sequel could be made faster than the original?
That also functions under the assumption that they didn't start working 2 until after Origins was finished. I seem to recall someone (Chris maybe?) saying they had started pre-production once Origins hit the testing stage.

Of course these are the real reasons. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves. These are also the same reasons why the game is being transformed into a linear action title rather than a proper tactical role-playing game. Enjoy your money, BioWare, but you won't have mine. Talk about ****ing over your fans. See you later.

You know, i just love how people come to a final conclusion without having NO information at all about the combat mechanics (apart from it being more "dynamic"). And based on that not info at all, you decide that this game is going to be linear action game and you don't give Bioware any money. Hmmm, that's... sweet of you. And smart.

They have not said anything about character voice work.
They have not said anything about making the game into more of an ARPG.

They have only confirmed that we have a character named Hawke and that we cannot change his race.

BiowEAr are terrible liars; it's the detrius of their pedigree, from when they had the luxury of honesty that came with being self-owned and directed.  What they do say nowadays is obfuscation; what they don't say is where the truth is.

Seriously, man?
How about the game is still in development and almost everything is still subject to change?

They can't tell us because they don't know.

How much of what they said about Dragon Age was true in their second year of development?
I'd say around 5-10%

You know everyone complaining about this game will eventually break down and buy it anyway. They wouldn't be posting here if they wouldn't.

Why do I get the feeling that Bioware sometimes decides to announce things just to see how many people start whining about stupid crap despite their lack on information? I easily see them being clever enough to do this.

Come to think of it, the description says "whether you are a mage, rogue, or warrior."
Theoretically if they kept some originy stuff in Hawke could have 3 different origins depending on the class.

The REAL reason is:

there's no reason. They just ****ed it up accidentally.

Mind you, I don't care about the warden, the orangin stories (although, orangin stories were an ok addition) and I'm glad we'll get to start with a new character from level 1 (if I'll ever wish to touch DA2). I just want to name my fuc.. my sweet character myself. Thanks for listening.

I'm pretty much in the same da... stinking boat.

We'll be stuck in this idiotic situation of being in a universe where everyone is calling our PC by his last name. I feel it.
Come on Bioware.. You can do better than that, can't you?

They can't tell us because they don't know.

It's supposedly eight months from release.  They know if the PC has voice over and what sort of combat is featured.

And of course they know becaues someone else demands that they know. They can't wipe their noses anymore without someone knowing.  But they act coy in case whoever is telling them what to do changes their mind.

My question concerning DA2: Can I input my credit card number in the cash shop and make purchases without having to log out of the game?

Add that one to the FAQ.

EA turned the original DA-- supposedly a niche PC retro title-- into an experiment for selling gobs of sub-par DLC and making microtransactions, and even led the way in putting DLC-flagged NPCs right in the game.

So I think it's vaild to wonder if they are going to go all the way and just have an in-game cash shop in DA2 that allows me to purchase pixels for real money.  Not that there's a chance in Hell of me actually doing that, of course.

Bioware is out to make money

Hawke will be their Shepard

You couldnt make a warden action figure, cartoon, web series, lunch box

But Hawke can be their trademark

Of course Bioware is out to make money. Any company that isn't doesn't deserve to exist, and won't went they go bankrupt.

I think the main reason might be that the PC is fully-voiced. If they let you choose your race (let alone something like an Origin story), that would mean 6 different voice actors required to fill this role as opposed to 2... unless people don't mind the humans having the same voices as elves or dwarves. Admittedly, I was disappointed when I found out you could only play a human character, but I don't think it's a completely unreasonable depending on what their actual reasons are. It's unfortunate that they couldn't have the best of both worlds, but it's not a reasonable reason to dismiss an entire game.

Besides, the fact that they didn't allow you to pick your origin/race means they had more time/resources to allocate to other aspects of the game. I'd rather have a well done game with a preset character than a so-so or not-so-good game with 6 different possible backgrounds and additional races.

However, I'm not sure they'd get away with the preset character of one specific race paradigm in a D&D based game... they're kind of walking a line doing it with Dragon Age.
