Everypne is wondering where it takes place, I am wondering when. There have been four blights after origins. Hawke may be a survivor of any. Or I could be wrong. If so, please provide a link to where they state what time it is in.

It must be after DA:A because that name of "Hawke " never appear in the codex of DA:A. If he was a big the life name, he should have been know in DA:A as well...

It has to be within the same century, otherwise the title wouldn't make any sense.

Excellent point. We're all assuming BioWare is referring to the Blight from Origins. It could be any of the Blights past or some future Blight.

They just say he is a Blight survivor, but there is no reason to suppose it is anything other than the Blight from Origins for the following reasons:
1) It would explain why the first game is the "Origins" of the DA saga, as it would set the backdrop for the rise of the most powerful character in Thedas, Hawke.
2) Dragon Age is a time period of 100 years - it is unlikely that multiple Blights will happen within the same 100 year age.
3) It is coming out soon after the first game, so they will probably try to piggy-back on the world immersion of the first one by setting it soon after, with tie-in events like the Blight.

I think we've found a plot hole here.

Doesn't the character start as a nobody who survived the Blight, and over the course of DA2 you become the greatest hero in Thedas? They did say the story of the game will take place over 10 years, and I'm assuming that first years will be soon after Origins. Considering the Warden's rise took only a couple months to go from nobody to hero, I don't see any plotholes for Hawke's rise.

I'd think that Bioware knows that if they make a prequel, everyone would feel betrayed since everything we cared about in DA:O would not be in DA2. So... it's probably a sequel!!!!

if they would do a prequel they can't name it Dragon Age because the Dragon Age began when a big dragon was seen, and that happens at the start of origins. or at least thats how i remember it. The name of Dragon Age stands for the Age (period) in which Thedas is in right now. And there were other ages before the Draogn Age.

Dragon Age: Origins starts 30 years into 'Dragon Age'. If I remember correctly.String910 wrote...
