I was scouring around for a Collector's edition and found this at Best Buy's website:

http://www.bestbuy.c...tegories&ks=960

They are now apparently carrying the Collectors Edition and it looks somewhat suspect. Anyone preorder from here before?

I currently have my Collectors Edition on order from the EA store but won't receive it for 3-4 days after release and I of course would rather have it day one. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

From the Best Buy product description section: "Collector's Edition includes the Dragon's Age: Origins game, a steel case, a bonus DVD, a cloth map and three pieces of exclusive in-game content"

THAT'S IT?!?!?! Posted Image

Friend you need to pre-order from Steam or Direct2Drive. Their Ditigal Deluxe Edition includes: 2 rings: Dalish Ring, Memory Band, a book that increases stats:  Stone Prisoner Warden's Keep, an awesome helm: Bergen’s Honor, another book: Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes, a cool staff: Final Reason, and best of all: Blood Dragon Armor, plus a Digital Soundtrack and Wallpapers. All that for the same price you're paying.

No-brainer there...

Note that the Best Buy one will also include Stone Prisoner and the Blood Dragon Armor, and that the three pieces of in-game content _are_ Bergen's Honor, Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes, and Final Reason. And you get the soundtrack and stuff on the bonus DVD.

So to really compare:

CE:

- Has actual discs

- Steel case and cloth map

DDE:

- a couple of extra in-game items

- Warden's Keep

- You need to download everything

Personally, I'd still go for the physical CE given that comparison.

Thanks for pointing out the specific things each has over the other, Jab0r. I, personally, however prefer the digital version - no disc to damage/lose, don't have to worry if it's in the drive to start playing, etc.

To each his own, though...Posted Image

I bought a hard copy so i could take it on the go or not have to redownload it. Some times you want something and the internets down or you don't have it where you are.

I wish i would have gotten all that stuff thoughPosted Image.

Preordered from a local Bestbuy and was told the CE came bundled with the standard stuff (the book, the helm, the staff, etc). They just don't have any of the pre-order bonuses that other places do.

From my understanding the Digital Version doesn't get anymore items than the box version. The difference is just that u wont get the cloth map or tin case if you get the digital version, so u will get Wardens Keep for free. The box version won't get Wardens Keep for free though. Different retailers have a different special item though..if they got 1 at all that is. Like EA store has a fire ring I think and the steam version has a diff kind of ring. I hope you guys understand what I mean.:D

You can find the physical edition on the EA store I think.

Yeah the EA Store still has it available. You won't be able to find a CE and get it day one anymore. If you want a CE you'll have to wait till it arrives in the mail. My copy won't arrive from EA until 3-4 days after release. Hence my search for something local. I just don't trust Best Buy given the incomplete descriptions on their site.

I've been mulling over cancelling my CE at EA in favor of getting the game day one... still haven't decided...

The thing is, I'm ordering from EA and if I do get it even 4 days past due, that'll be saturday... which is great, because being a college student I really don't need the distraction lol

I believe EA uses UPS to deliver. Hence... if it gets to your depot Saturday I believe they won't be delivering it till Monday. Which worries me a bit. I think EA ships out of California. I live in Florida so I'm definitely at the latter part of the delivery window.

To quote the Best Buy CE (for PC)

From Best Buy:

This exciting Collector's Edition comes complete with a variety of bonus items, including a steel case; a bonus DVD containing a making-of documentary, soundtrack, trailers, wallpapers, concept art video and strategy tips; a cloth map and three pieces of exclusive in-game content, including the Lucky Stone, which adds +1 to all stats, the Lion's Paw, which adds to armor, dodge and evade, and the Edge, a dagger that adds a lot to damage, melee crit and attack.

And on the back of my Pre-Order box

Pre-Order box

Bergen's Honor
Final Reason
Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes

Basically the basic CE equipment

So I see no problem here.

I plan on going with the Best Buy CE version. I like hard copies of games still.

I ordered my copy from them back in September. Originally had a copy reserved through my regular retailer, but missed the deadline for preordering the CE due to being on holiday with family. They kindly gave me my money back, and recommended I check Best Buy. Much as I tend to dislike Best Buy, this is a good deal. You get the standard bonus for the preorder (helm, grimoire, staff), and you also get (ring, boots, and nifty dagger), as well as some other cool stuff. Personally, as excited as I am over the game itself, getting the bonus DVD loaded is going to be some of the most fun I've experienced in years. Normally, those go in a drawer and gather dust for years before I end up tossing them in the dustbin. Few manage to make my 'must-watch' list. The Witcher did, and Dragon Age will as well. Now, to bloody wait for them to frapping ship it to me (when I preordered, the online ordering option was the only one available, so with taxes and standard shipping costs included, this is the most expensive game I have ever purchased, and worth every penny in my eyes) so I can begin to play it.

Ring boots and nifty dagger? That's odd. I think Best Buy made a mistake. The Lucky Stone is an item we get for uploading characters here and the Lion's Paw Boots are a preorder item with Amazon.

I've only had one experience with Best Buy Online. It was for the Warhammer MMO's Collector Edition. I had pre-ordered it 5 months in advance. Then the game gets released and my order status says back ordered. I go to the local store where they had some of the Collectors Editions behind the counter waiting for people to pick them up. Tried getting one of those with no luck. Called back to their service numbers a few more times and ended up with an apology and nothing else. So I'd be very wary of Best Buy's pre-orders.

I've forgotten.. but won't we be able to download all the extra content from other special editions for a price once the game is released? If that's true it would be very nice to know the prices of all the extra content to compare to see if it's actually a 'value' to buy whatever special edition you get.

I believe Wardens Keep is 6 or 7 dollars on the 360. I'd have to double check though.

Problem is that WK is DLC. The stuff pre-orders and CE gets seem to be labeled "Exclusives". Bioware might release them later, but I doubt it would happen soonish.
