Seeing as Dragon Age will have a new character I have to wonder, whatever happened to The Warden as the game takes place 10 years after the first so they couldn't have gone to their calling, awakening says The Warden vanished but DA 2 has a new character so I have to wonder, will they ever explain what happened to the Warden?

they might perhaps a random NPC you talk to will tell you a story about the grey warden and what happened to him after the blight

I doubt that the warden would be killed in battle since, at the end of awakening, you are basically a walking deity and able to take on high dragons solo so I don't think that is the case.

Hmm.  I kind of hope not.  Maybe they'll handle it the way Obsidian handled KOTOR2, where you'll get a dialogue about the Warden, and the dialogue tree will help you determine what happened.

If it's ten years later, the Warden is presumably still alive and kicking, assuming s/he didn't have a heroic suicidal spaz attack.

I wonder, if the Warden's story wasn't going the continue, why did the end of awakening state that the Warden vanished and that their story was not finished?

I kinda hope the game doesn't tell me. It's my character, I'd rather filll in the blanks myself.

For all we know it could take place in a Darkspawn Chronicles spinoff universe with Alistair defeating the Arch Demon where your Warden didn't quite exist.

Agreed.  In fact, I wish this game was about filling in those blanks.

Wherever DA:O's ending slide said he'd be. Living with Lel, Zev, looking for Morri, ruling with Anora, Alistair, ruling the Dwarven kingdom, etc.

Why all the need for 'closure?' can't you people take a happily ever after?

there still might be DLC to fill in those gaps

but I don't want to play a level 60+ character for an entire game, because to chalange him EVERY encounter will need to be equally epic and the whole thing could get stale. That and the fact that a dude who has killed more dragons than the most people in Thedas have even seen would be unrelatable to most NPCs. Playing a living legend is nowhere as interesting as someone trying to BECOME a legend.

@Saulot: the game takes place 10 years after the first game, so the warden didn't go on their calling yet.

Getting smacked in the balls with the Dark RItual then searching for Morrigan after she steals off with your Old God Baby and conveniently vanishing after Awakening does not constitute "happily ever after" in my book.

You get perfect closure with the US. But the DR Wardens, especially after Awakening where they all "vanish!" with hints of more adventures, do not get any semblance of closure. They pull a Revan. And that, in my humble opinion, sucks.=]

It feels like Dragon Age Rrigins was just an introduction to the Dragon Age story and the rest of the romances, quests and your created character was just sugar coating on your cake. :)

Sounds like they pulled a KOTOR "What happened to Revan? He left the galaxy to seek out the True Sith?" plot point to me.

People want to see this happily ever after, I would assume.

After the victory over the blight, the warden got drunk in celebration and fell off the ramparts of Fort Drakon. Undead Loghain now rules the wardens with an iron fist with zombie hobo alistair as his faithful second. No one knows what happened to morrigan for sure, but rumors say that she works at a dunkin' donuts in the anderfels.
