Mrsph said : Considering Bioware never said Origins was going to carry over the Warden to future games, I am not surprised nor am I upset that my Warden isn't returning.
I should think it not to difficult to allow players to import there characters from Origins or Awakenings. I am not a designer or programmer but it seems a simple 1 if its an uploaded character or 0 if not then a 1 if it has an origins completion and 2 if not then that would determine the conversation block for any former NPC you might encounter (leliana, Ohgren, Morrigan etc etc) If there was no intention of continuing the story line MRSPH then why put in a special save at the end game.
Where's The Warden? (Awakening Spoilers)

I know where my warden(s) are.
My mage is making some good looking babies with Leliana.
My dwarf is making some good looking beer with Oghren
My Noble is watching Anora make some good looking beer/sandwiches for him.
I got my priories straight.

I'd probably rather just decide for myself what happened to my Wardens than have the game come up with some dumb explanation.
For example, if DA2 is mostly disconnected, then my main, mostly invicible Warden dies in the snow looking for Morrigan. No doubt his frozen tears will be sweet to whatever wolf runs across him and eats his face. As for the prince consort, I am quite confident he booted Anora off some ledge.
One can always hold out hope that they'll revisit DAO characters like that in later stuff. But it seems unlikely. If they really wanted tight continuity they'd have done it DA2. By the time there's a DA3, all the DAO save games will have pretty much been deleted. I think the most we can hope for in DA2 is some continuation of Morrigan and/or Flemeth since they could really be anywhere and could reasonably be tied to a larger dragon-oriented storyline.

The Warden got crushed by a giant boulder.
They replaced him/her with some nobody named Hawke because they couldn't bother with character importation...

Considering that first 5 years of DA2 seem to be taking place during Origins and Awakening, it should be safe to asume that the Warden is still alive by the end of that game (provided he/she didn't do the ultimate sacrifice).

There are too many variables to make a logical assumption so either they'll ignore the warden completely or give the warden some closure with a canon view on what he did.

Seeing as Dragon Age will have a new character I have to wonder, whatever happened to The Warden as the game takes place 10 years after the first so they couldn't have gone to their calling, awakening says The Warden vanished but DA 2 has a new character so I have to wonder, will they ever explain what happened to the Warden?
My Warden will be ruling over the Teryn of Gwaren while his brother rules over Highever. Glory to House Cousland!
Being a mighty noble is probably too time consuming to deal with whatever this Hawke person has to do deal with.

I dunno. My mage chancellored up for a while with Alistair before they both took off for parts unknown. It would be awesome for my two heroes to meet face to face, but I don't know how they'd facilitate it.

No Wardens... May be all of them are dead (since this is after 10 years of DA:O according 2 my understanding).

The original warden is in a permanent vegetative state and only survives by being fed DLC through his/her IV.

The Warden's gone off to track down Morrigan and bring back his child. Hopefully. In hitherto unknown DLC. That will come out yesterday.

Mine is off looking for Morrigan, and not doing a very good job of finding her as it seems.

We can't know until and unless they tell us why our wardens disappeared a few month/years (unclear) after Awakening. Without knowing where they went, we can't know where they are. Not everyone got this ending, but mant, maybe even most, did.

Hopefully the Warden's reason for vanishing will be explained in the future. If not, then Bioware is going to have some very annoyed fans.

Well you don't see David talking about it, what happend to him or her, your Warden I would say is still around, I really don't think they are done with that Story. I think this Hawke, beefcake looking gool is going to be someone the Warden has to deal with later on down the road............hehehe, I want to kick the dog**** out of Hawke.

The so-called "Warden" was just Hawke's fantasy growing up. It never happened; Lothering was lost.
Besides, have you met the dunderhead who allegedly pulled this "Warden"'s puppet-strings? You really want to live in a world that presence graced?

Mines looking for Morrigan, maybe you can loot your warden as a corpse so that we can get the cool stuff from him. I wouldn't mind being reunited with my Sentinel.

Judging how I played my mage character, she might be the enemy in DA2.

I hope they ignore the end of Awakening, personally. Elissa should be left at court irritating selfish nobles and living 29 years out in peace. I find it hard to believe both rulers of Fereldan would just... leave.
