You are right, we should have faith. I hope Bioware don't disappoint, but there are three reasons why we are quick to assume the worst:

1. This sort of thing isn't new. Plenty of outstanding PC titles have gotten the console treatment in their sequels. Deus Ex is the biggest example.

2. EA

3. A lot of the PR stuff seems to be influenced by Mass Effect 2. And while I thought ME2 was fantastic, the stripping down of the RPG stuff suited it, because it was an action game at heart.

I trust BioWare.

I do not trust my PC.

It is because of this that I will avoid the financial nightmare and stick with consoles for now.

Every thing about DA2 I've seen thus far screams "simplified" for the more mainstream crowd. Thats not necessarily bad, but it doesn't instill much faith in me with where they're headed especially after Awakening and some of the DLC.

Red flags have been raised but I'm willing to give this a chance.

Stinging....3 years ago Id say bravo...but remember who OWNS Bioware...and TELLS THEM what they are doing, and when, and more imporantly..HOW.

No faith at all....in EA anyway.

Why not? EA haven't been the evil empire in years. Activision took over as the bad guys of publishing a long time ago, and EA got new management who seem to like games.

My observations have lead me to believe that EA's new management seems to like charging as much as possible for as little as possible, rather than games.

I will buy it, I will enjoy it, I enjoyed DAO, but this is not Baldur's Gate, some people just have to accept that. (mostly me)

Good point.

I just know us PC gamers tend to freak out about our platform losing strength, so this was a dedicated message to them.

Good point:)

1) Bioware recently made statements about loving the PC and thinking the PC is a great platform for the future.

2) Bioware is one of VERY few developers that recently made a VERY PC-focused title in Dragon Age.

3) Bioware released a REAL expansion pack like PC games used to get, rather than only DLC.

4) Bioware released mod tools for the PC community!

5) Even if the game is more console-focused, it is likely to be an amazing game anyway and get a quality PC port like Mass Effect 2 did.

1) pffft more like their favourite cash cow

2) yes

3) pfffttt hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Give me some decent voice actors and I can make a better expansion than awakening, without the huge hole in your wallet

4) toolset needs a lot more work. The blizzard map editor for warcraft 3, a 7 year old game, is much more complicated and offers more variety than the toolset.

5) meh, consoles

BioWare promised that the console iterations would have no impact on the PC experience. Yet now the sequel is apparently being dumbed down in order to accomodate the consoles. No, I'm afraid I'm all out of faith for the faithless.

So all it took was the appearance of letting you down to run all out of faith?  You couldn't at least wait to see if you were, in fact, let down?

PC gamers aren't really losing strength, it's a strong platform if you count all the pirates.

I have absolute and cemented faith in Bioware, and I do not feel in the slightest the instict of us PC gamers being dumbed down. And all in all EA is doing an excellent job of supporting Bioware and their titles-I really do not see any harm done.

The way I figure it, if they wanted to make another game like Mass Effect 2, they would make Mass Effect 3.

Oh, wait... B)

I can't help fearing the consolification of DA2 just a bit, but a) I think it's obvious to the devs that watering down the gameplay would hurt the game, and B) I loved ME2 anyway, so I'm pretty sure I'll love DA2 no matter what they do with it.

If BioWare makes this game for a mainstream console audience, I'll cry.

I have faith in Bioware, just not EA.

'Sugar Daddy' EA is what I'm worried about.

EA has a strong presence on the PC, so I am not sure where this particular concern comes from.  Several MMOs, The Sims, Dragon Age 1, ports of all their console-focused stuff.

EA knows there is money on the PC.

I'm a PC-gamer and I trust BioWare to make good use of the platform with DA2. Dragon Age is supposed to be all about traditional CRPGs, and they already have a strong current-gen foundation in the pc-focused systems of Origins, I see no reason in removing that strong foundation. Naturally they'll have to work on improving the console versions for the sequel, but the PC version of Origins actually sold very well and was the most critically succesful version of the first game. Why would they want to lessen that strength? :)

The problem is BW is just an EA lap dog now. I used to have faith in BW when they were a stand alone company and teamed up with Black Isle for some truely epic titles like BG and BG 2.

I personally have no faith in EA. DA2 will be nothing more then a "dumbed down" console arpg that is targeted at a much wider audience (lowest common denominator) for increased profits. It also wouldn't surprise me if the game is going to need a major patch on day one.

Why have faith in them? Bioware has great dev teams working for them. But that hasn't kept them from putting out **** in the past. Now I want to have faith. I know that they won't purposely make a bad game. But I also know that EA hasn't had the most financial success recently and that DA is listed as one of the games they wanted to be making a better profit (somewhat strangely).

Thus far, we haven't had much great news. The February release date suggests a somewhat limited development period, considering Bioware's history in making games. The limited protagonist suggests not only that it will be more difficult to role play (as Shepard was to ME) but likely that they will have their own voice as well (which would further destroy the role playing aspect as well as limit the dialogue options). The refined combat could mean anything, but noting Bioware's recent overhaul in ME2, I fear it's going into the territory of more action and less strategy. The bit I do like, choices and story over an entire decade, sounds great, but combined again with the seemingly short dev time and an experience which is already sounding more stripped down by the sentence, it almost sounds more like a gimmick than a feature. Worse, it creates the image that they're taking ideas from the Fable series which, honestly, would be very, very bad.

I agree, everyone should have faith in them, they've barely given out any details and questioning the entire game on about 10 lines of description.
