And did you know that ARPGs don't work well on a PC? DA:O's top selling system.

Fable works just fine on the PC. Don't be ridiculous.

You have to figure there was a reason why they didn't sell Fable 2 on the PC

For the same reason as to why Microsoft opted to not release Alan Wake for the PC? Besides, Fable 3 is being released on the PC so I fail to see your point.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the games not being playable on a PC. If anything Fable played better on the PC.

Dragon Age: Origins on consoles on the other hand...

Welcome to the world where fans know nothing of RPGS, movies, and books. I am a huge Bioware fan and I used to play World of Warcraft. Now..I played this supposed..downhearted ME:2. Yes some things were changed like the combat system. But not to the point to get crazy and say OMGZ IT SUCKERZ!

Sequels usually provide new innovative things, more dynamic both in combat and visually. That could be clearly seen in ME: 2. Now whether DA:2 will provide this same technique..I do not know and I don't care. Simple quotations can set off fans into a frenzy.

Simply, things will be changed and improved. Don't like it? Don't buy and and stop complaining. The world is an imperfect place just as DA;O was in some aspects..face it and move on.

I am (or was?) a fan of their games, but why should I be a fan of a company?

I guess Bioware forgot this was supposed to be in line with the spirit of Baldur's Gate 2. To bad Bioware peaked with that game. I guess EA was able to exercise that spirit.

I am disapointed

In what?  The almost total lack of actual information we have on DA2?  The fact that there is going to be a DA2?

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!  Dynamic combat?  I hate dynamic things!  ARGG!  This ill be the demon spawn of Mass Effect and Dragon Age I tells ya!  NOOO!

I swear it always amazes me how people flip the f*ck out over nothing more than speculation.  Its a game, you either can accept whatever changes they may have made or you can't....stop whining and reserve your judgment until you see the final product.

Any sequel will have complaints from hardcore fans of the first game. Just take a look at any forum out there.

Oh, be quiet, I was just making some friendly talk there, you ass. Fable is a totally different scenario anyhow.

The fact is: You have no proof of anything. You are worrying over words of advertising which could only vaguely validate your own argument if you chose to perceive them in such an irrational light.

God damn.

I'm not going to worship everything they do just because I'm a "fan".

Honestly the only reason I'm complaining is because I loved DA so much. (Both Origins and Awakening, and most of the DLC)  On paper, DA2 sounds cool.  But when they call it a sequel there's something called expectations that come into play, and I for one was expecting DA2 to continue the awesomeness of the first game and not to change so many things drastically.

Maybe I'm wrong, the only really confirmed thing that pisses me off is the lack of racial choice and origin stories.  With a sequel you're supposed to expand upon your feature set, not cut them because they weren't as grand as they were originally planned.  However as we saw with ME2 Bioware's sequel design philosophy is very much "if it didn't work, get rid of it entirely"

yeah, just because it's mass effect with swords doesn't mean it won't be a good game.

Yes it does. Commander shepard trying to fight the reapers with a long sword would just be embarrassing. "I'm going to but disrupter ammo on my broadsword! Now how the **** do I pull the trigger?"

You know the game made LONG after Bioware became a part of EA that came out after Mass Effect and that came out only a month before Mass Effect 2.

Hate to rain on your pretty ranting parade but:

Da was finished long before ME2 came out, it was delayed as "EA" forced them to make it multi platform (making it worse in the process)

it was laos well under development before EA bought Bioware.

Is it confirmed that Hawke is the last name?

To be honest, I could see them dropping the origins aspect of the gameplay - it certainly wasn't instrumental in the game in any form (unfortunately) and since the sequel is coming out much sooner, they just simply wouldn't have the time to make the origins more important.

Whatever, I can live with that. It's not like most games don't lock you into a specific origin anyway.

My fear with the only customization options being male or female is that we'll lose control of the dialogue as in Mass Effect. I do not like the dialogue wheel, which I still think is poorly implemented (I feel that Alpha Protocol did it better even though it still wasn't great). So long as we can have more interaction options other than Male **** Hawke/Female **** Hawk/Male Saint Hawke/Female Saint Hawke I'll be ok.

I have to say to David Gaider, I think you had one hell of a story with DAO and going forward with it with a 2 and 3 to end it. I really don't understand you as a writer, you bring in elements in DAOs that lead to a DA2 but you go way into left feild and make it all new and nothing of our Warden but of this character that lived because of our Warden, why build our hopes up with DAO and DAA , only to cut our heads off and in your office LOL about it.

David Gaider could have made this a great story with a final end to it, why do you writers just give up on a story and go with all new content.........where did the thought of being a artist go? I just don't get you, there is a money maker there to make a great story, one that would go down as one of the best of all time but you just killed it, and yes you did kill it. I hope there is some kind of expansion pack for our Grey Warden that caps off the ending, if you did that with Awakening, then it was ****** poor and boo to you, David Gaider.

What is the problem with some of the people on these boards?  There has only been 1 game pretty much EVER where race mattered even a little... Can any of you remember which game that was?  Yeah thats right it was dragon age: origins.  You know the game made LONG after Bioware became a part of EA that came out after Mass Effect and that came out only a month before Mass Effect 2.  Let me refresh ALL we know about this game...  You will be a human (man or woman), your last name will be Hawke, and you again will choose from one of DA:O's base classes when you begin the game.  That and a very basic story line is all we know and what has the response been?

Basically all I have heard from this forums oh so "loyal fans" is that this is a Mass Effect clone that is going to give you no choice, and is not even going to be an rpg anymore....  FACT: this is a leap in logic that has NO basis in any official word on the game... NONE AT ALL

RPG's are not defined by race options... again race has only mattered really in 1 rpg ever...  does it kinda suck?  yes.  But it has nothing to do with how much of an RPG this game is.  Want to know a game that is considered one of the all time greats, that was an RPG, you could only be human, and you had a single backstory (though you could change your last name)?  KOTOR!  KOTOR is a hell of alot more similar to the original dragon age than Mass Effect is too.  So why doesnt everybody take a step back and calm the heck down.

Does everyone have a right to be upset?  Yes, im a little upset too.

Does everyone have the right to blow a socket and say they refuse to buy it, its not an rpg, and it is now obviously exactly like mass effect in every way?  Ofcourse, they do...  But it doesnt change the fact that none of those statements have any basis in fact... at all...

Thank you for putting up with my rant...

I agree with this 100 percent. The point I want to make is that we all have right to complain about the path the game has taken but don't complain about the lack of race options. It doesn't matter at all what race you play as, it affected very little in the game besides the Origin story. And yes we will have  the right to complain if it is a Mass Effect clone, but wait until we know more information. Right now the only thing we know for certain is we play as a male or female charachter named Hawke, he survived the Blight, and the story covers 10 years. That is about it. I see nothing mentioning an Action game style combat, nothing remotly related to cutting back the RPG mechanics.

So the moral of this message is wait to complain until more information is released. Wait at the very least until GameInformer's article, interrview, whatever it is they have in this coming issue.

being a "fan" does not mean blindly accepting everything and anything someone or something does...

said entity (person, company, band, etc) can lose the "fans" by doing some such thing.

you're an idiot if you immediately believe that people unhappy with a direction bioware has gone or seems to be going don't have the right or reason to post it.

matter of fact....your blind devotion is tripe. at least those that are speaking out are passionate enough to make their thoughts about such things heard..while you just bend over and take it....pausing long enough to say thank you.

it's being a "fan" that causes these kinds of emotions..maybe you should get some yourself..or at least some intelligent thought on the matter before posting again OP.

I hate Bioware even though I really like ME 2, and ME 1, and Dragon Age. But damn MDK 2, **** that game. Dragon Age 2 is looking just like it.
