Add me to the list of people that don't want Dragon Age to be like Mass Effect. Mass Effect is great but it's its own thing. Dragon Age should stay as a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate games and Mass Effect should continue to be Mass Effect.

well said. ME2 was not a RPG game
That is odd because the party dynamics, the dialog, and so forth were all up to the standard. Only the combat was slightly different.
But I guess that is all Bioware games are? Combat? I play for the dialog and character ineraction so I guess they can make the rest of their games non-RPGs if that is all they are.
I like the combo of Character, story, combat, RPG mechanics the whole schebang. You know, like Baldur's Gate 2
I know a lot of people only care about cutscenes and pretty graphics, but games like BG2 had EVERYTHING
DAO was close, it was the start of a 3D BG2 lite. I just don't want them to Mass Effect 2-ify it.
ME1 had some shaky RPG mechanics, me and many others expected them to IMPROVE the RPG mechanics, instead they through them in the trash and made Gears of War 4 with better cutscenes.
Hahaha, exactly.
Freakin' ME2, I hyped it to all my friends and now they don't trust me anymore lol :innocent:

And of course, RPG elements being replaced by "lolz actionioness" is a huge fear.
And that "most pwoerful personin Thedas" doesn't become "lulz you become a god". No thanks, I don't want to feel like I am that much better than everyone else. The nice thing about Origins is that it had great NPCs that don't make you feel like you are that superior.

Interesting, I can go with spiritual successor... I would like my choices to translate into DA2 though, even if it's just the major ones like templars or mages, etc, if only for some continuity between the two games. it wouldn't be too hard to put in references, the odd cutscene here or there...

Perhaps you should look into recruiting an anti-flame war/complain desk army? A ninja army?

I hope your right. I loved the first game, one of my favorites, and would play the second either way, but everything seems anime influenced anymore. Not to mention the new Dragon Age/FUNimation anime film, I hope I'm just being paranoid.Darth Jayder wrote...
An unlikely fear you have there....I see no evidence of that being an issue.MartianBlue wrote...
I'm worried about it going in an anime style(concept art), Yuck!
Hopefully I have nothing to worry about, I guess I'll know soon enough.
Looking forward to the trailer next month.

I totally agree that I do not want them to make it like Mass Effect and I loved Baldur's Gate 2 and the entire BG series.
I thought they did improve the RPG elements in the context of the combat being a shooter. You want RPG elements the impact combat in that environment and that was exactly what they did. Do I prefer pure RPGs like DA? Sure. But I enjoyed ME2 and ME1 for what they were. I just think it is absurd to think they tossed anything in the trash. But I never played any other shooters so I have no clue, nor do I care, what Gears of War 4 is.
Also where were the cutscenes? I thought it was dialog and character interaction and generally I am here for the dialog and character interaction.

People who don't want DR in canon - shame on you! It's the best ending out of the ones I experienced (I think nearly all, except dying).

So lets give Bioware a chance to release real info about the game and not a brief summary of what to expect. Also yes they did say that the combat will be different but I don't think they will go with an action game style combat but stay it an RPG style combatr but modify it a little bit from DAO. Afterall just a few tweaks to the combat makes it a new combat system.
One more thing on the subject of DA2 I don't care if they don't allow importation of data, though not saying if they do it is a bad thing, but either way it isn't a gamebreaker. As well as those out there who are saying 2 years is to short a time to make a true sequel to DAO. They had DAO completed long before launch. Who isn't to say besides Bioware themselves that DA2 wasn't already mostly done when Awackening came out.
