my fear....since they're forcing you to play as a "predefined" character is that they will force a personality onto your character. And if they include VO ( which I'm not opposed to ), will that severely limit your dialogue choices?

Like.....are they going to make your Hawke character a no-nonsense, bada** character.

What if you wanted to make a kind, compassionate, merciful character? Or one who starts out shy and unsure but grows into a strong leader?  Or a combination of some sort?

IOW.....are they going to take away the "roleplaying" aspect of the game by making you play a certain type of hero character?

With DA2, I was hoping for MORE FREEDOM in how you can define your character's personality.

My fear was that they were going to hand the reigns over to Obsidian. Whenever somebody wants to ruin an IP its best to get them involved.....

My worst fear for DA2 is that nothing from DA1 will be of importance, and that it will be a blank slate again.

I agree, after destroying the blight and saving all of fereldan so that this future takes place... wait, what?

Worst fear is that it won't be as long.

That it will be lead developed for consoles.

Consoles have ruined enough beauty as is.

Agreed, although DA:O on the console was pale in comparrison to the PC version, can't see Bioware making a lesser version and porting it to PC, history has shown many a time what happens to those titles.

I'm terrified of a PC VO. If I have to listen Manly-Female Shepherd's long lost cousin, Manly-Female Hawke, I'll cry.

A lot.

I would bet money that Hawke is proof that they DID canonize it :(

How come? Didn't they already say that Hawke is not Morrigan's son/daughter?

Unless the dev was joking, but I doubt it. I don't want to see people from DA:O in DA2, maybe references, but otherwise I want blank slate.

I know it's way early, and I'm not jumping to any conclusions just yet, but I read this...

"Discover a whole realm rendered in stunning detail with updated graphics and a new visual style."

Then I saw the concept art (and yes I know it's just concept art), and the magazine cover, and this little voice in the back of my mind is going "God I hope they don't go Wind Waker on us."

My fear is that judging by the negativity in several threads regarding DA2, is that Bioware is becoming a victim of it's own success. They set the standard with DAO and gave folk a lot of game (game-play wise) and now the creators are taking a different path, people can't fathom Biowares decision making.

Personally I'm glad that Bioware is taking a different route and not resting on their laurels, this can either be a good or bad thing of course, but at least we have something new to look forward to.

My only real fear is retconning. If DA2 also takes place in the Dragon Age (which I think has been implied) I'd hope we would have the option to import a DA:O save to affect parts of the background like who became ruler of Ferelden, instead of being given a "canon" version of the storyline.

Or, if they just don't mention characters and events from the previous game at all, that works too. As long as it's consistent and doesn't jump all over the choices I made in Origins.

My fear is that DA2 will completely push DA:O aside, forget about your character and choices and-.. oh, wait. :/

Personally, I like my main Warden, and I'm not a fan of being forced to play someone. . It just makes all the effort you put into DA:O obsolete and that's slightly irritating. (Though that will depend on how DA2 handles the choices you made, and if they refer to the events of DA:O at all),

I also, like many others, don't like the idea of Mass Effect slowly indoctrinating DA. I adore both games, but because they are very different games. They're both RPGs, but one's clearly shooter the other more tactical, I like both games remaining different otherwise, as was said before, it's just Shepard with a sword...

I fear it will lose its RPG elements or have them a small part of it. I also fear that the first Dragon Age will have its 'importance' shaved off. Who could be more important then the person that ended the blight? I don't want to feel like my Warden was less important then this new character. I also hate the male pronouns, if they lost their marbles and make the character only male I would not buy the game. In addition, I fear it being Mass Effect 2 all over again, I adored ME 2 but I don't want to play it all over agian just in a new setting. "deadliest allies" yeah, sounds a lot like the discription for Shepard's new crew in ME 2. Jack is a no sell for me, they were awesome but belong in their own game.

That they put your Warden on a bus and act as if they disappear entirely.

Wait, they're DOING that...

I think that says there are origins.

Also yeah, I hope they don't use Awakening conversation system and also not having a lot of decisions and characters from the first game.

My fear is that they'll try to change it too much. If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it. The formula in DAO worked very, very well. All that DA2 needs is a new storyline, some new/refreshing elements, and a strong cast of characters.

This, and that they'll cut down on the amount of voice acting to save money. It would appear that there are going to be a lot more possible companions, and that makes me fear less communication with each. Oh, and I want to talk to them when I choose, not when they see something shiny.

My worst fear is that BioWare has been replaced by evil aliens and installing DA2 will cause your computer to emit brainwashing signals so they can take over the world. My second worst fear is that terrorists will attack BioWare in retaliation for some news they didn't like and they'll all be dead and both DA2 and ME3 will be handed over to Obsidian. My third worst fear is that it's a prank and they never plan on making a DA2 at all. My fourth worst fear is that they'll try to streamline the moral choices in the game to be clear cut Happy-Friendly-Sunshine Good and Puppy-Stomping-Cartoon-Super-Villain Evil.

Although I do hope a lot that we can import our DA saves into DA2 to get our choices from the original, even though we don't play as the Warden.

Amen to that! That's the one reason I never went back and played Awakening after I beat it. There was nothing new to discover after the first time...

Gah.

They've already gone beyond my worst fears, when they just dropped my characters on the floor. It is so dissapointing, that I'm hard pressed to come up with a worst fear. But I guess my worst fear is that it will be even more a console action-game, with silly "achievements", linear plot and loads of hack'n slash.

What the hell will our choises matter when the world has been viped out? Why did I struggle with characters, to have them flushed out the drain without as much as a proper ending? I have a bitter taste in my mouth, and I'll be hard pressed to bother playing more DA:O, when I know they are just going to throw away the characters anyway.

And my final worst fear: Instead of them informing us, the fans who bought the game, about what is going on, we are told to go buy a magazine that aren't sold in half the world. Oh, sorry.... that isn't a fear, that happened already!
