So this game is getting ME2'd?

I can imagine how it all began...
"You know, as an action game Dragon Age wasn't that fun, so we turned off the RPG elements so we could focus on making a great action game first."
Can we expect no inventory or loot? Lockpicking minigame that any class can do because who wants to drag a rogue around just to open locks anyway?
Maybe we'll get a mining minigame, only without the benefit of future technology. So we toil for hours in a dark hole with a pickaxe for a minigame. That'll be fun.
Oh, and who wants to bet "Hawke" isn't gay, so they can avoid having gay romances?

I really didn't mind the changes they made for ME 2, but I didn't want it to become the Bioware norm. I'd rather be able to create my own characer, have a nice open world, and have a simple (but still existent) inventory system. Although, I may be asking too much.

Dragon Age: Origins is not a shooter game and I really doubt DA2 will be. Besides who the heck plays medieval shooter games? You are still going to be a specialized class, a warrior/rogue/mage you are not going to playing a witcher type action game because you still need to coordinate the classes in the party.
I am a bit concerned what they mean by "dynamic" combat. How was DA:O combat not dynamic? What could that mean? Just a marketing gimmick? I guess we will find out.

You know most of the time it´s the users fault. Never had any problems with DAO.

Yeah unbalanced skills and gear that turns every fight into one you can just stand there and shoot everybody with no strategy even at the hardest difficulties seems to be what hardcore RPGs are all about.
ME was not a great game for combat. It was a fun, if unbalanced, little shooter with great characters and plot but hardly some amazing hardcore RPG. Oh and the vehicle parts were entirely actiony, the skills and gear of your party did not matter at all.

There are some pretty major bugs in DA:O.

I presumed and I hope he was talking about ME and not DAO.

I was, but there still are a few issues in DA:O for some users. I didn't have many problems myself either.

in one hundred hours of playing, i have seen one bug, the one in the orphanage in the alienage.
so as far as bugs go, dragon age was free of them.

Considering this, it would make more sense for ME3 to be DA:O'd, at least from a commercial standpoint

ME 1 wasn't though. On my last playthrough I fell through three elevators and the framerate. Wow that thing couldn't stay stable if it had a gun to its head

Ughh, this is bad news too.
I really hope they don't dragonize Mass Effect 3. They already ruined KOTOR for me.

What did you expect? Bioware made a major announcement. Everyone in the world that knows about it is going to either curse or hooray all at the same time.

I must ask: why do people say we shouldn't speculate in a forum designed for speculation? What are you even doing here if you're not interested in the thoughts the community has on this?
I'm not saying you should leave, your reaction simply coloured me... curious.

I think it comes down to dragon age taking 5 years to make and mass effect 2 taking 2 years to make. And now Dragon age 2 taking just under 2 years to make.
Not necessarily since Dragon Age was built from the ground up and it was redesigned and re-imagined and left alone for periods. I do not think that necessarily means that DA2 being done in less time means it will not be just as big.
