quote one insult?  I never insulted you , please do not make  accusations like that while we are having a civil discussion.

It makes me sad that so many people think ME2 is better than ME1 just because it's prettier and easier to get headshots.

That was not why I like ME2.  I liked it for the exact same reason you liked KOTOR: the characters and their reactions to situations.  Each character got its own plot to explore their story and personaliy.  No other Bioware game has each party member got their part of the game ot star in and I thought it was brilliant.

We all agree that the characters in the ME series are fantastic, there is no argument about that.  The argument is about gameplay mechanics mostly

"They force rune crafting on you to get the best weapons"

That was a bit slow and tedious, but not nearly as bad as Mining, actually Demon's Souls farming for stones is far slower than DA runing

gah enough with the ****ing gay romance they didn't put it in, it was a design choce get over it

as for the game being ME2'ed first of lets not jump to conclusion ME2 was a good game and personally I liked it more then ME1, with that said DAO was just as great  and for diffrent reasions.

am I happy about the some of the announced game changes ? no but I would hold off jumping to conclusion until more detail comes out.

Looks like we can look forward to Ray Muzyka saying "more intense", "visceral" and "emotionally engaging" a lot over the next 8 months.

"Emotionally engaging" is code for "we are removing prostitutes so we can get a E rating.  Blood will now be Blue and there will no longer be corpses, enemies will blink and fade and be "KO"d"

First of all, like so many said, ME and DA are two entirely different experiences.

DA makes sense as being the most profitable game Bioware has made as that is their bread and butter: complex story driven RPG's. They do this very well and the sales show it. There is definately a market for this sort of thing as outside of JRPG's, there are not many options in the realm in general for consoles OR PC's.

ME, taken in the context of shooters/shooter hybrids may be a good series of games, but in comparison to the rest of its "field", it is a rather mediocre performer. There are better shooters and better shooter hybrids. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I for one think Bioware should stick to their STRENGTH, which is story driven RPG's in the vein of BG I&2 and Dragon Age, as obviously those SELL.

At least in Fable 2 you got to see an impact on the world rather than just Epilogue texts

Even if the gameplay, art and gameplay sucked.

I haven't finished Fable 2 so IDK.  I remember my head exploded in Fable 1 after trying to get all the demo doors opened and getting CRAP rewards for time spent.

yes, I like nice swords and cool armor, no I am not a WoW player :)

Well yeah if you like Catcher in the Rye then we obviously aren't going to see eye to eye.

How about film then?  I went out on a limb and named a great book I enjoyed, name a film you thought had a good story and lets see where we are

My fav movie of the last year?    Slumdog Millionaire (except for the last 20 minutes)

I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire, but I personally prefer The Thing, Apocalypse now and Pulp Fiction

The Catcher in the Rye was actually the last book I read.  I liked it to an extent but I didn't see why it was a big deal.  Also the fact that it was banned was kind of silly when you read the whole book and spot what was objectionable.

Well Catcher was written a long time ago, it was banned in the era of ULTRA CONSERVATIVE america.  I read Catcher when I was just a kid in high school, that's why it probably impacted me.

The Thing is IMO one of the best horror movies ever made.  The PS2/XBOX videogame is also very very good.

Dead Man by Jim Jarmusch is my fav film of all time.  Zero surprises in that movie, but the acting and writing is top notch.

Star Wars ESB is my fav SCi Fantasy.  Blade Runner is probably my fav Hard sci fi.  Can't name a fav comedy, I love a lot of comedies but hollywood comedies always top being funny in the last half of the movie so they can cram in some lame gun fight or car chase

Yeah Blade Runner is awesome. Especially the cut of it where they don't have the Narration, just seemed to fit better.

fable 2's ending was anti-climatic and felt like a major cliffhanger  and there was no real ending unless you downloade "see the future"

back on topic personally I loved the epilogue text old school ftw...well at least games made in 1998-2001 ( I am currently playing arcanum and loving every minute of it)

BTW I fully expect DA2 NOT to be ME2'd.

I honestly expect something very different, hopefully a very different style of Skill/Ability tree.

I think the replayability in Dragon Age is unlike almost any game I've played, since you can play as a completely different character every time. Since DA2 has a fixed character, it seems like it would be more like ME in that respect. I haven't played ME yet. Are the different choices and story paths enough to convince you to play it multiple times? I'm curious.

That's certainly the impression I'm getting.

I can imagine how it all began...

"You know, as an action game Dragon Age wasn't that fun, so we turned off the RPG elements so we could focus on making a great action game first."

Can we expect no inventory or loot? Lockpicking minigame that any class can do because who wants to drag a rogue around just to open locks anyway?

Maybe we'll get a mining minigame, only without the benefit of future technology. So we toil for hours in a dark hole with a pickaxe for a minigame. That'll be fun.

Oh, and who wants to bet "Hawke" isn't gay, so they can avoid having gay romances?

Do come back when you understand what defines a game as a RPG and what doesn't.

For a lot of people it is, they liked the story that much.  I loved ME1 but haven't really had the chance to play it again yet.

I beat Demon's Souls 4X but that has a NEW GAME +, there is almost no story at all.  I'm more of a gameplay fan than story fan for RPGs tho I enjoy both aspects
