Those are my thoughts as well, some people have been saying the main character is the child but I would rather hope not. Bioware has overdone the "you are the chosen one" angle too many times. Besides an NPC can flesh out the story more.

The main PC is not morrigan and the warden's child as said so by Chris Priestly or Victor Watcher can't remember
because Hawke is a survivor of the last blight

Depending upon how old the character looks in the actual game (since concept art can be deceptive), I think it's either Morrigan or Morrigan's daughter.

I thought the idea the girl was Flemeth reborn/re-vitalized was an interesting idea. I still have no grasp as to what the exact timeline is between DAO and DA2 tho so it could be the god-child.
