So, ten years? At the moment, that's the thing that's most interesting me about DA2. Apart from Fable, there are no games I can think of with such an ambitious timescale. If Bioware get it right, DA2 will be Homeric Epic, not just Internet Slang Epic.

How do you construct a single player narrative that spans one decade? I assume there will be chronological jumps and 'what happened between the chapter' expositions...otherwise DA2 would have to cut back on the unepic but necessary clutter of RPG production - you know, stuff like voice acting, graphics, music, bug testing, salaries for the development staff...

I'm pretty impressed. If only by the ambition.

eta: Sorry if this topic already exists.

Oh yeah, and in case this thread needs kick-starting:

It will be intresting to see how they pull it off especielly since it means taking influence from the player when doing jumps in time.

I hadn't heard about that. Was it written down somewhere on the website and I missed it?

Not the jumping in time bit no..However that it spans during an entire decade, There could of course be genious ways of doing this that I dont know of. We have to wait and see

Assassin's Creed 2 spanned 20 years.

Well, Ezio's story did. Desmond's story in that game was a few days.

Not an RPG, I know, but it's still an impressive story. And an impressive time scale. And it's not kiddy's first video game, like the Fable series are.
