What about Sonic Chronicles?

How can you be let down about a Sonic game?

Being let down implies that you thought it'd be good.

So I assume you are a professional writer of some sort or someone with similar qualifications? Because it doesn't seem to matter who or how many writers BioWare hires, people will continue to criticize them while hiding behind their precious anonymity.

Maybe if they hired more "GAME"play designers :innocent:

Sorry, but story should never trump gameplay.

- ME2 (I don't hate the game, but my expectations were too high...I think)

- some DLCs (Pinnacle station etc.)

The epic community event, Pinnacle Station and Mass Effect 2 sort of (still an above average game though).

Yes. With Mass Effect 2 where they rendered everything you did in the first game null and void, then stuck you with a big reset button.

the only thing they really reset was the decision about your hyperactive fanboy

other than that, what made me disappointed was the change of the inventory and the loss of being able to amass loot, and equip myself and the companions properly with armor and weapons

...also, the use of heatclips I think is stupid, we are in the future and we use energy weapons, it was already implemented in ME1 that there is no ammo so why do something like that?

For a vocal minority ME2 was a disappointment, however the majority loved ME2 and prefer it over ME1

GameSpot's User Scores are also higher for ME2

Wow, there's lot more of PC gamers participated on that poll :)

This guy already said it

That, right there. Got the link from another post.

I'm sure DA2 will be a great story and fascinating cinema, much like ME2. I'm sure people will get dozens of hours of enjoyment from it - then move on to the next great story and fascinating cinema. Which is not what the first Dragon Age was.

I realize that my interests in games are part of a niche - and as such, I know that what I enjoy will be the exception rather than the rule. I realize that the more 'open' the players character concept and plot options, how 'sandbox' a game is, the more difficult it is to create a deep story and thread it through out the game. I realize it makes player-voiced parts of the game more or less impossible. I accept this and don't complain about it.

I can recognize changes that need to be made to allow more of a 'tell me a story/interactive cinema' sort of style to a game.

They simply hold no interest to me. Funny, isn't it. I've picked up and enjoyed every part of the DA franchise so far from CRPG to the tabletop release through Green Ronin, yet the moment you tell me that I'll be playing 'Whozit Hawke, a penniless refugee who rises to power to become the single most
important character in the world of Dragon Age' I suddenly lose all interest. Doesn't matter what it looks like, or how the visuals will change, etc. Something that small suddenly changes the feel from the aspects of an RPG, making my own character in my own story, to playing a largely preset character in a largely preset story.

I'm sure it will be well recieved by the target market. It is, I admit, always a bit frustraiting to find that the target market of a product you would otherwise be happy to spend your money on, isn't you.

Ah well. Maybe Bethesda will break wildly with tradition and the next Elder Scrolls installment with have a rich and engaging plot and not require eight patches before it is playable begining to end!  Best of luck with DA2, folks. See you next game.

Hmm wonder if Hawke is the child of the Warden and Morrigan. That could work.

You really should try to illuminate what you are talking about here, it sounds like you are thinking solely on the story progression elements, not the gameplay elements.

Dialogue is at least half of it. This is illustrated by the ~35,000 lines of voiced dialogue, 2/3rds of it being from Shepard's character or any of the non-squadmates.

Character development is Shepard's interaction with her/his squadmates, the inclusion of romances, and the ability to play out a specific type of personality.

Character customization is the ability to change the way your Shepard looks (carried over from Mass Effect 1, for the purpose of importation) and how your Shepard plays with 6 different classes, all of them having some unique ability or playstyle.

As I mentioned before, there aren't many games outside of BioWare that do all three successfully, much less one.

I am a hobby author in my nation, i got 4 novels out, if Bioware asks for my real identity I will give it to them, but I am not crazy enough to say it on public forums

also, critic on the decisions are not based on a persons jobs or hobby, but on personal preference, and everyone can do it, not as if you could deny this right to people

Everyone can do it, but that doesn't mean what they say is valid. I could write fanfiction if I wanted to, but that doesn't automatically make me a writer or a critic.

Professional writers are forced to show their real names on forums when they comment, while professional critics almost always include their real name when they write a review. There's a reason why BioWare is much more likely to listen to them over the complaints of forum posters.

Good. I've never taken that option. :)

I'm really looking forward to DA2, and I'm really excited about it. I'm also looking forward to hearing about modding and the toolset .

Nerd-ragers may go back to their nerd-rage.

Really? So taking them at their word when they said pre-release that your choices in ME1 would make a huge difference is me being a hyperactive fanboy? Oh how I bow to your logic :P

Yeah, Bioware have made a habit of letting me down lately, and seeing buttlicking fanboys suggest they havent gets incredibly annoying.

Mass Effect 2 was one of the most dumbed down, shooting ass kissing, mass appeal attempts it has ever been my misfortune to play.

Rather than it being a one off situation, it looks to be Biowares new game design model however, so yes, they continue to let me down, and I wont bother taking it much longer.

Why Bioware!! I don't want to play a fantasy RPG with evles and dwarves and not being able to play as one. Please do not restrict us a human. Bring back the dark elves(drow). I missed playing as a drow so please bring back in this game or another. I love BG2 and NWN. I thought DA was the successor to them and yet still go down this road.

I like how you continue to pretend that certain characters from a video game actually exist in real-life and are not the result of some BioWare writer's creativity.

...if drow don't exist in this world then no, they shouldn't appear

Did I even mention the characters? Jesus Ecael, if you arent steadfastly in denial -

"ME1 AND 2 ARE EXAKTLY TEH SAEM! I AM RITE!"
- You are resorting to a pathetic strawman argument.

Take my advice, stick to snark picspam and Bioware asskissery, since its what youre best at.

Yeah I know. Its enough of a problem for Bio****s like you to cry over it.

Tell me fanboy, what is it about Bio**** that makes you want to run and defend their games from indefensible consumer criticism so? Do the devs actually cry over this and you want to protect their fragile little hearts or something?

fanboy/fangirl - someone who is utterly devoted to a single subject or hobby, often to the point where it is considered an obsession.

So yes, BioWare characters count. Especially when it comes to defining fanboys.

OMG! They dumbed down Dragon Age!

Really, nobody knows anything about this game yet, there's nothing even to fight about, but here you are, doing your nerdrage thingie. That's not even funny anymore
