ME1?!  In what sense?

in the sense being more decent than that of ME2

The only good thing about ME was the plot and characters. The gameplay was a mess and unbalanced. Go cry somewhere else that DA2 (which does not even have that much info)is gonig to be like ME2. If it is, then that's ok because ME2 cwas better then ME and a fantastic game.

except that it made the inventory even less appealing than in ME1, and it removed the ability to freely army and equip armor on your companions which is basic for an RPG, and now I fear something like that will happen to DA2 too

ME1 was better than ME2 in RPG elements. You should try it yourself, make your own opinion of it.

I followed ME before it launched and it did not deliver what it promissed. I was disapointed big time. JE had a fantastic story but the gameplay was clunky and NWN was only good because of it's tool-set.

I admit I'm a little sad that the Origins mechanic appears to be gone; playing through an Origin story really made my character feel specific, unique, and attached to a part of the world, and less like a 'generic' main character.

For me, game developers are almost like movie directors or actors--if I've liked a particular developer, like Bioware, in the past, I have high confidence in them. Some of the changes they may make in DA 2 may not be what I would like, but I'm sure it will still turn out to be fun to play (which is, after all, why I play games in the first place.)

So that means it's not a RP game even tho a RPG means role playing! The inventory system while was very basic in ME2 was much more better then ME because it was not annoying and it worked. Could it be better? Yes it could and I hope Biuoware works harder on the system in ME3.

Who plays games for fun anymore? Escaping the cruel reality is far more common reason in modern world. :?

Bioware let me down a little with KOTOR2 but hell the community has more than made up for some of the game's shortcomings. Too bad it seems TSLRP is defunct now. :(

I support the pessimism. I hope it continues. This way when I get it, and most of you including the "why god why" people do, we can all say "wow this isn't as bad as I thought it would be".

Maybe I should have added sarcasm tags to my post. I wouldn't call ME2's inventory an inventory. More like a customization menu.

glad to see you can be so sarcastic and smug.

More amused, but only because I don't take such things personally.

so tell us....king gaider....I wonder how you feel about your creation being dumbed down like ME2 was...afterall the console pwnface headshot crowd is MUCH larger then those of us....who...not only GOT YOU WHERE YOU ****ING ARE...but actually like story, plot, coherence, and role-playing...

...unlike some, evidently.

so it's "Shepa..." sorry I mean "Hawke" now?  a single protagonist that can only be human but male/female.....you're going to change the combat mechanics in such a way that brings a sense of deja-vu to me when thinking back in mass effect 2 being talked about.

I've heard that a vague sense of déjà vu is an excellent basis for extrapolating this kind of information on a game. It's extraordinary, really. ;)

but I'm sure you could care less because taking DA the route of Mass Effect 2 will surely bring you more money to gorge on then sticking true to those of us that....made you what you are.

I could care less, yes.

But that's because I care a lot. Perhaps that isn't what you meant?

Good to see what was once my favorite developer...which I voiced VERY openly anytime I had the ****ing chance...turn into ****.

And we appreciate your loyalty and understanding.

have fun with your snarky comments on my post.

Thank you.

I honestly do hope you enjoy DA2, once you eventually learn what it is. I don't doubt it won't be to everyone's liking even then, but that should go without saying.

Wow. Just wow. I know this was like yesterday that this was posted, but seriously? You "made" David Gaider a writer? I"m sorry but I just couldn't help but laugh at that one. Since when do consumers make developers into anything?

I honestly don't know why you guys are flaming this innocent Bioware developer when we barely have any information on the game to grasp at all. They just announced it a few days ago with little info. At least wait until we have some gameplay videos/ documentaries before you actually start bashing the game you know nothing about!
It's a sad, sad day when people act as childish as these guys flaming Mr. Gaider.

I could partially understand it if we had some gameplay videos, or screenshots or any other type of media to go on, but we have nothing. So stop complaining with the "Let down" threads and comments and just wait patiently for them to release more information.

Still an inventory system, justr diffrent then what we are used too. I would say the weapon and armor locxker are an inventory system, we just can't access it at any time, it sucks but what are you going to do?

it means it goes too much into action/advernture, and while the inventory itslef was not a big deal to me, the lack of ability to equip various armor and weapons for companions and main character is a major setback and not just by a single game but by decades in RPG history

Bioware did not do KOTOR2, Obsidian did.  But most of KOTOR2 was brilliant, it could have been one of the best games ever if not for the destroyed ending and cut content.

Well ME was pretty much the same way.  The only meaningful inventory were the upgrades.  The rest was just stat upgrades.  You always had the same four guns.

You can still equip weapons to your squad and you and there is over 20 weapons which are all unuqe. Sorry but I don't judge RPGs on how many useless junk I can pick up from a dead foe or how much armor I can put on a character. The point that you can customize your armor on Shepard more then ME does say alot, that system should have been for your squadmates but it's not, that does not stop me from loving the game.

you forget armors, most of the fun is to equip different armors to companions so you change their looks

I do agree. They should have used the armor system they used for Shepard in ME2 for the squadmates. While I love Miri, I do find her outfit in battle to be plain stupid, more so in vacum areas :pinched:

Wait what?  You could equip weapons for companions and the main character.  The armor was sorta weird though.  At least in ME1 you could equip upgrades but anyway....

In any case you have to accept ME for what it was: a shooter hybrid with a Bioware party and dialog system.

I do not really consider something in a shooter/RPG hybrid genre as something as ridiculously hyberbolic of setting RPGs back decades.

ME1 and ME2 played almost identically.  The hysteria is just...baffling to me.
