oh god, because of this topic i've started to remember all the things i've disliked about Mass Effect 2, Awakening and every Bioware DLC
And it's all recent things, which makes me worry more...

argh, i've got to think about the good things in those games. That's what i've been focusing on since i finished those games

I don't remember DLC for Dreamfall. I recall those guys talking about making episodic adventure episodes in the Longest Journey series though

David Gaider is a champion at dealing with e-rage. One day I hope to have his skills. Anyway keep on keepin' on Bioware, I'm sure DA2 will be awesome in its own right.

DA2 could be good, it could be terrible, I don't think i would care that much.

I wouldn't say they've let me down mainly because they never personally promised me anything. I am disappointed in the turn the new game seems to be taking, but I will give it a try and do my best to remain open minded about it all.

I didn't like ME2 much but that's about it. So no, Bioware hasn't let me down yet. I love BG and NWN and of course DAO. While I feel sad that I won't be able to play my Warden in DA2, I'm hopeful that that "infodump" Victor mentioned that'll be revealed in GI will clear things up and leave me with the "omg that's gonna be awesome!bbq!!!" feeling [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie]

never came out however, sadly, as I would take anything from that game world, I enjoy wandering in the unknown future of Earth or in the also unknown fantasy world

Mass Effect 2, to me, was an extremely unsatisfactory follow up to the great first game in the series.

That being said, I am very excited for DA2! Image IPB I've read the scant info we've had so far, and I'm ok with a "Shepard" style of main character. I just hope they get a good pair of voice actors for Hawke and FemHawke. Or should that be LadyHawke? Image IPB Tho that was a pretty crummy movie...

Bioware announcing that DA2 will be a completely new story, making the hugely enjoyable story & characters from the first one completely meaningless.

Thanks Bioware.

You're welcome!

Always a pleasure to know that you can make everyone happy, even when providing very little information for them to go on. Image IPB

Well it's been announced that  DA2 will be an entirely new story, you can't import your character from Origins, you have no choice but to play as a human character named Hawke.

I will, of course, be reserving full judgement until I actually play the game, but it's not a good start is it ?

I have no doubt that there will be references & possibly cameos from Origins, but I would just like to have seen a direct sequel, as there were a few loose ends (Morrigan being the MAJOR one) & a direct sequel seemed the logical way to go.

I will still be buying DA2, because I'm not a stroppy child & boycotting the game because I didn't get my way !
I am just a bit upset after putting so much time in to Origins and falling in love with the characters, just to see it brushed aside like it didn't happen, so you'll forgive me if my original comment seemed a bit scathing.

I just hope it does tie-in with the first  one, beyond the odd dialogue reference here or there.

I struggled to get into Mass Effect 1 but whe I eventually did I really enjoyed it despite a couple minor flaws.

Dragon Age was fantastic bare the fade which I found to be a massive chore and very nearly caused me to give up on the game due to the monotony of it.

Mass Effect 2 is the biggest disappointment for me of recent times as it feels as though, although they have stream lined a few things here and there, they have turned into Gears of War 2 with a better storyline. The combat "improvements" took a lot away from the classes I enjoyed in the game, so much so I am yet to make it half way through the game, instead opting to play other titles.

My initial impressions of DA2 from the released screenshots are on the cynical side too but I will wait and see.

No. I loved BG, BGII, and KOTOR. Mass Effect was my all time favourite game right up until Dragon Age came out, and DA was my favourite game until ME2 came out. I am very excited about a more cinematic experience, and the cleaning up of the combat. I love the dialogue wheel of the ME games. It means I get a surprise every time I choose a dialogue option, and I get more "face time" with my main character. I trust Bioware implicitly.

I honestly don't understand why there's so much complaining and rage over so few details. We haven't even seen the first trailer yet...

I'm still most likely going to get this game, since from what I've seen of Bioware so far, they do make excellent games, so I trust they won't royally screw this one up. It's not like they're some kind of evil overlord looking to screw their fans over.

It might help - my lack of rage - that I was more attached to the characters (my Shepard included) from ME2, than those in DAO. I still liked them all, and they were all charming and amusing, but I didn't grow as fond of them.
