I didn´t feel the changes were that big in ME2, but with DA almos anything changed from gameplay is already big, being a more traditional RPG. No races Origins is bad enough, but if I see anything of a more friendly combat system then is time to start seriously worrying.
The changing main character and what it implies about the events and characters from DA:O is what is really dissapointing. So much that can be told with them.

Very true. I could even live with a dumbed down combat system (if there's going to be a toolset, it could be remedied), but the removal of choices for the player character and the whole way the interaction with companions went in Awakening recently, seem to indicate that the story and story telling will take a hard hit too.

The only games I couldn't get into were Jade Empire and NWN, can't really spot why but I fell asleep in my first JE run.

BG1, BG:ToSC, BG II, BG:ToB, KotoR, DA, ME1, ME2 were all awesome.

I've loved each bioware game I've played. Sure ME2 was a bit annoying with waves of mobs and no game seems to have captured me as much as BG2. But I try not to compare them and take each one on it's own merit. I mean, you can compare everything and they will always have pro's and con's. P.S can I have my money now bioware?

I was shocked at first and am still disappointed that I can't play as any other races. But I've gotten over that part and going to wait for the info. To answer TC's question no they haven't :)

Don't forget that Dragon Age could be altered and modified a LOT and still be something the DA:O audience "could recognize".

Yup.  And is it something the *PC* DA:O players would recognize, or just the action-play consolers?

(Btw, will you ME2 complainers finally realize that you're in a major minority *even among people complaining about DA2*?)

Bioware let me down HARD with the horrible crap NWN1 was.
I was also half-let-down by many design decisions in DA:O, but I still found it quite a good game.
Another one of their large failures were the actual forums, which just suck so much I can't believe they actually could think it was a good idea. Honestly.

About DA2, I have to say that reading the annoucement made me make a weird, stunned face. It just reeks of total failure. I'll not judge before I have more information, but I'm seriously NOT excited by what has been said up until now, and that's an understatement.

Strangely enough, though I'm probably one of the most hardcore old-school gamer there is, I seem to have the complete opposite opinion than most people here on ME2 : I actually found it great, MUCH better than ME1, and I think I had even more fun playing it than playing DA:O - and I'm really NOT the kind of guy who lilke console-like game. But the points I disliked in DA:O simply merged into the background in ME2 and didn't bother me, and the general flow of the game and writing were far superior.
Funny situation :P

Still, I've read some comment that I don't get because of the abuse of acronyms : what exactly are the "DR ending" and the "US ending" ?

So that you'd finally arrive and show us the light with your soul searching question and bad grammar.

Why are you questioning people who are moaning about haters in a topic called "Has BioWare Let you Down Yet?"

People will always **** about something.

On topic; Of course they have, I still enjoy their games to some degree though.

What is this? People can't complain if they're in the minority of something?

Being a more recent BioWare fan (I only started getting into BioWare's games last year), I can't say that BioWare has disappointed me yet. I've played KOTOR, ME1, ME2, Jade Empire, and DAO. Jade Empire was mildly disappointing, but was still good.

However, I wish that BioWare would stop recycling the whole "good vs. evil" theme. We need some more innovation in the storyline.

Ah, thank you.
If they really have decided that the DR ending was canon, I guess that's one more point in the "you have seriously failed". Especially as the US ending feels just much more "canon", in fact. It's much more heroics, and it fits better the flow of the story.

But well, Morrigan being the (horribly annoying) pet dog of the developper, I guess it's a huge fail, but an expected one.

I'll say this to those who are all concerned about things being changed to reach a more massive audience. We already reached a massive audience with DA:O. It would be silly to make DA2 into something that the DA:O audience couldn't recognize.

Thank you for making my day brighter :)

Thanks for the votes of confidence, from those of you who, you know, gave votes of confidence.

There's a lot of info in the upcoming Game Informer issue, and once that's out, we can talk a lot more. It directly addresses a lot of the questions out there. I can say, "don't worry, you'll love this game," until I lose my voice. But it won't mean anything til you get the big infodump that's coming.

I'll say this to those who are all concerned about things being changed to reach a more massive audience. We already reached a massive audience with DA:O. It would be silly to make DA2 into something that the DA:O audience couldn't recognize.

Bioware has not let me down yet. Nor do I expect them to. I liked Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2 quite a lot. And I am very excited for Dragon Age 2. I don't know why a game has to conform to any pre-conceived standard for what an RPG is "supposed" to be.

Bioware's Casey Hudson on Mass Effect 2:

But I think mostly we wanted to create an
experience that was less about being a game and more about being an
experience. That might be the theme behind everything. I'm not saying
make the systems thinner or anything specific like that, but let the
game get out of the way of the player having an experience. I think
that's the goal of any artist in any medium, to get out of the way of
what the game is trying to be. To make it less mechanical and let people
interact with it in a more natural way.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So people think Bioware is console-izing Dragon Age 2 to appeal to the
twitch-reaction gamers? That's strange, because I have almost zero
experience with RPGs outside of Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I usually play games like God of War, Halo, Uncharted,
etc. So tell me, how did I become such a big fan of Dragon Age? Because it's not about the combat system. Somehow, it's a great game even if you hate old-fashioned RPG combat. Somehow, it brought in a lot of gamers, like myself, who don't usually play that kind of game. Victor Watchter is right. I don't know why everyone suddenly thinks it's because they want to appeal to a bigger audience. I don't really care what they do with the combat system. That's not what got me into the game in the first place.

ME2 was a let down because they didn't fix anything...they just removed most of the content.

Looks like DA2 is following suit.

Yeah by not fixing anything they didn't stabilize the framerate and optimize the grahpics optins as well as the controls. That **** doesn't count

Bioware has done fine by me, and I don't see how any of this negative reaction is justified based on the little information we have seen. I register my vote of confidence.

But I may stay away from these forums for a little while. I wanted to check it out today to look for information and interesting discussion, but its filled with bizarre griping over things we don't know yet, to the point where its almost impossible to actually stay and read this forum.

I'm so tired of every Bioware-game being of such epic proportions storytelling-wise. Why must I save the world in every single game? Would it be so bad if I just could get a more personalized and intimate story? Where my actions aren't only motivated by saving a world I don't really care about to begin with.

I'm hoping this game will be moddable? I'm guessing it will use the same engine?

Bioware kind of let me down with Awakening, but that's it.
