ME1 had a bad inventory system, YES  But removing it completely was not a "fix" it was a dumbing down to please halo/COD fans.

DAO combat is not perfect by any stretch, but please, please, please do not gut it and replace it w/ button mashing or jumping air combo Devil May Cry BS

They did not remove it completely. You got weapons that actually acted differently in the context of the game. The guns actually shot differently and could get one that suited your style and change your armor and get upgrades and the like. I am a bit annoyed about how terrible it was when it seemed alot more suited to the style of the game. Changing the system to give it more meaningful choices is not 'gutting' a system. I liked it and I have never and will never play COD or Halo.

However yeah DAO is a tactical RPG where character classes work together to win. I cannot imagine they would change the entire flavor of the genre of the game. I am going to be interested what they mean by introducing a dynamic combat system.
