Why would the Wardens even factor into a new story? The Blight is over. I don't understand some people.
There's two more blights to go.

Well, playing a Grey Warden in Origins might make some people attached to them, that's crazy right?Gill Kaiser wrote...

Also, the Grey Wardens are important Blight or not, not saying that I personally want Hawke to be a Warden but I think the Wardens should play a part in the story, specially seeing the concept art features darkspawn.

200 years or so inbetween them
If Hawke is the last survivor of a village consumed by the 5th Blight. . . . chances are he won't live to see the 6th or 7th

I'm glad that our protagonist is fighting for himself, for once.

None of your other companions are wardens. They get mauled at by darkspawn all the time and they're fine. No point being a warden, it just makes you die earlier. lol

I kind of want a different story instead of fighting the darkspawn and stopping the blight again.
but the only interesting part of the lore of dragon age are grey wardens, the deep roads, the blight, the story of the old gods, the tevinter mages, the fade. Those elements stand aside and make the lore epic, without them the rest of the lore is bland and unappealling. elfs meh, tower mage meh, antiva and rivain meh, orlais the same. Generic races, generic countries, generic fantasy settings.
It's like mass effect, without thestory of shepard and the threat of the reapers it's just a bunch of races interacting in the galaxy, like your regular sci-fi program, that's why a mass effect mmo without shepards and reapers makes no sense.
What will we do in antiva? kill crowds? and in orlais? buy shoes? will we spend our time "rising to power" buying houses and charming peasants like in Fable? collect 20 potions for the guild of thieves? that's generic rpg storylines, I want to kill gods, to enter the palace of the maker, to die in the deep roads killing darkspawn, to command glyphons on the battlefield.
Being a grey warden meant something big and legendary, now we are going to be a medieval Niko Bellic?

Once Bioware release more information and Hawke does indeed seem like a medieval Niko Bellic, then sure, go nuts.
Anyway, there's plenty about the lore that is interesting. The Darkspawn were explored a lot in DA:O and Awakenings (thought not completely). We don't need another main story that revolves around them. I'd be much more interested in a plot surrounding the Fade.

But I think this is a weakness that Bioware should attempt to correct. The problem with Dragon Age: Origins lore was so much was told and not shown. A bunch of journal entries and some party chat about distant places is okay but feels a bit dry next to the main story content of Fade, Grey Wardens and Darkspawn. Hopefully they will flesh out those areas that were merely referred to in passing in DA:O as well as developing the most interesting aspects.
