Face facts, the story of Dragon Age is dead. This is a great old title being used to promote sales of a new game.
Dragon Age was a very successful game. There's no reason for them not to exploit it from a business perspective. And anyhow, there's still plenty they can do in regards to fleshing out the Dragon Age universe. Just because the story of one group of characters is over, doesn't mean there isn't still life in the franchise.
Although from a gameplay perspective, I hope they don't dumb down the combat too much like they did in ME2.

I think I will wait to see the story of the next game before I judge. The old story might connect to the new one in way we have not seen yet.

The story of Dragon Age: Origins is dead. As it was always going to be.
Dragon Age is a setting, not a single story.

To be fair, I haven't heard about the story yet other than you are stuck as a human named Hawke to rebuild after the Blight. Gaider, Kirby and the other writers did a great job in DA:O but damn...who decided to limit the player options so much? I play a fantasy game to indulge in the fantasy of it, not to be a human character. It's like going to a foreign country and staying in a resort the whole time instead of going out and actually experiencing the culture. Did you ever really go? All you can claim is the price tag, or game recipt in this case.

FUN FACT: Did you know that sequels have been around since even before Mass Effect? It's true! The more you know...

I hope DA:2 ends up being a colossal financial catastrophe for Bioware (EA); perhaps then they will learn a lesson and listen to what their customer really want.
I don't think it will be that bad but it will be bad enough. I just don't see, bringing use DAO and then all the DLC and Awakening pack to just throw it out the window, which they have and as I have seen alof of companys get to big for the busterbrowns........fail, this seems like echo dragons........shudders to think of such but it is...oh and Commander Hawke from G.I. Joe to boot, now thats a true part 2 to a game.......hahaha what BS.

Origins is a great game—and they will still continue it's story through DLC and possibly another full expansion. But honestly, think about it: THE BLIGHT IS OVER! The characters from Origins—including 'The Warden'—are minor players now; they don't matter. Let's move on to other locations and meet more important characters in the post-blight world.
The Warden might be less important now, but I'd hardly dare to say that Leliana, Morigan, Sten and Zeveran should be pushed aside since they still have a place in the stories to be told.
