Circle? Apostate? Maleficarum? You're still thinking Ferelden. This story may take place far away from such things. For all we know Hawke is a Tevinter Mage.

As long as Mike Hawk will get some beardy "romance" (hardcore wo-hooo that is), I don't care if his magical power sits in the beard, eyebrow or any other hairy area of his heroic body.

Somewhat on topic, I anyhow(e) hope there will be kind-of-origin stories. As stated oh so many times before, there has been no talk of villages!

as far as i know the devs said there won't be origins.

Do we have a link for that?  As far as I know, the devs have so far been closed-mouthed about the whole origins issue.

I never actually read a post made by any Dev saying there won't be origins. Only that the family name of your character is set: Hawke. and that you're a Blight refugee. For all we know there are six Hawkes, and only one of them, the one who's origin you chose, survives.

Also, we don't know what happened to the Circle. If you carried out the annulment, they're all dead. If not, then something else might've happened (Tower exploded or whatnot) and they're dead anyhow. Who's to say Ferelden's Circle of magi still exists? Again, we know nothing of the story, apart from being a refugee from the Blight.

But yeah, Apostates are cool.

However, DA2 apparently takes place in the Free Marches, so whatever happened to the Ferelden Circle would likely have little-to-no effect on a DA2 mage.

That's what I was thinking.

If I remember correctly: every country has their own "Circle".  Possibly excluding Teviner and of course the Qunari lands.

I don't care what sort of a mage I am--Circle, apostate, or otherwise--so long as I retain the right to shoot lightning at fools.

You're also a survivor of the Blight, and the Blight happened in Ferelden, meaning you were there the moment it happened.

And yes, pretty much all countries where the Chant of Light is the official religion have a Circle.

Shhh.

That beard has magical powers.

It was a last resort against Templars. The Beards actually hides a mage's powers so Templars can't discover them. Thats why Templars decide to take mages in to circle early , before they grow beard and hide themselves.

For female mages , tought luck.

I feel the same way!!!! I wonder how it will play with mages being "in the heat of battle" do you think mages will get new spells or be an Arcane Warrior type? I hope they still have specializations in DA2:happy:

Anyways I have a hard time picturing that Bearded man as a mage.

Poor, iconic Hawke. Ostracized for the sake of his beard...

"Your beard is insufficiently magey! Either shave, or reroll warrior!"

Or just grow it to a full 3 feet in length and dye it white.  =]

I do hope they either revamp the specialisations or add new ones, honestly I liked playing as a shapshifter and an arcane warrior. Yes I know a redundant play style...but still cool. If they keep the shapeshifter, it would be cool to have them turn into a werewolf...I would prefer it better than that darn spider...or the wasps for that matter.

Why couldn't he be a circle mage, my circle mage ran around doing what he wanted the whole game in origins. Sure kids are usually stuck in the circle tower while they attend "school" but i can't remember anything about full grown mages that have completed the harrowing being imprisoned in the tower. Sure a lot of them stay there and work or teach but there are mages outside of the circle tower.

Appostates are mages that don't live by the circles code, it's not about whether they live in a circle tower or not as far as i am concerned.
