So with the announcement of DA 2 I have run into a mixed message that the story either takes place 10 years after Origins or it spans 10 years. Can someone please clarify if it does in fact take place over 10 years or not?

If the answer is yes then I would also like to know if part of DA 2 will happen simultaneously with the events of DA:O. Which would I think would be a nice solution to the problem alot of people seem to be having with not being able to import their warden.

"all-new adventure that takes place across an entire decade"

Pretty sure the main plot takes that much time.

I suppose what this means is unlike Origins where BioWare kicked father time in the balls you'll actually have some semblance of time, most likely portrayed by a certain amount of advancement whenever you move onto the next area. Because of that I think it's safe to assume this will end up being more linear then past BioWare games.

It spans ten years according to the website. Considering Hawke is a survivor of the Blight, DA2 could either occur 20 or so years after the events of DA:O (if Hawke survived the blight as a child), or it could occur somewhat concurrently (if Hawke survived the blight as a soldier in his twenties).

Your character starts as a survivor of the Blight, which means the same Blight your DA:O character was the main hero of. You start with nothing and spends the next 10 years building your life, massing power.

I have to say this could be a great idea from Bioware. Hopefully your character ages. Other than that, I expect some great cause-effect side missions and such!

Damn, people will at least stop moaning about game length if the main plot takes 10 years to finishImage IPB

I like the idea that the story is to take place over a longer periode of time. In too many games it just seems like you get the throne and half the kingdom overnight.

Problem is if they try to cover 10 years in 20-30 hours or so.

i hope the time isn't done like fable 2, where you leave and come back and they say that 10 years have past

An assumption based on another assumption. Marvelous.

Okay cool I am happy they are going with the story progression over ten years time since I will be able to see the effects of my actions earlier in my adventuring carrer.

It doesn't say when specifically after the blight the story opens on, just that the OC will span a decade. It might take place right where DAO left off time wise, or it's possible the PC was only a kid when that happened and his story picks up later on.

Can we do anything other then assume at the moment? Perhaps we should all just log off this board since we really can't talk about jack about DA2 without assuming, or maybe we could share our personal troubles. Do you have any personal troubles you'd like to share?

I wonder why he/she needs to mass power...

Hmm this rising to power vibe I'm getting here kinda reminds me of Fable 3. But i'm glad the game will span 10 years it makes more sense than doing everything in one day.

Yes, infact. My dog just died. Will you hold me? I can braid your hair.

Anyways I apologise if I came off as an ****. I'm just getting annoyed by the wave af people getting outraged over assumptions based off a paragraph of PR lines. Yours was actually pretty reasonable, but I went into flame/sarcasm autopilot when I saw the word assumption.

The way I see it the "Hawke" person is just another King Calenhad , but one that we get to play ,

does say int he codex that the Free Marches resemble the Bannorn , so yea I can "Hawke" Uniting all of the Free Marches and becoming King.
