i love Being Shepard in Mass Effect, but i also love creating my own Character in Dragon Age. did Bioware put in a Shepard like hero? Will this take away from the Dragon Age experience? please share your assumptions

Well it seems like they are cutting the elements that got me interested in origins in the first place, in depth character creation, choice and origins.  Now the creation could still be indepth but I will greatly miss picking the race and having it make a difference in the characters background.  I assume this type of stuff was cut for the sake of  getting the game out fast, similar to the changing of the conversation system to something lesser,  I may be wrong but I doubt it.  Since this thread is about assumptions I would also assume that the replay value will be  one tenth the originals. But I guess we will have to wait and see.

Well, if you judge by past actions (ME2)...it is not looking good...

The new adventures of Hawke relieves the pain of waiting for Dragon Age 2. A new game with a great old title.

Jeebus. Everything I'm reading about DA2 has me ready to storm Bioware headquarters with a pitchfork and torch.... I really hope this doesn't end up like ME. I loved that game, but it played like a movie. You took part in combat, then sat back and watched the awesome story unfold. As everyone WHO READ THE BLOODY OP mentioned, the fact that what you did and who you chose affected the outcome is what makes DA:O great. And for Tolkien's sake, let us play other races, you jerks! I needs me some dorf-age! *waves hands around angrily*

The Dwarfs seem to be the angriest over this.  Poor short hairy people never to be the lead again.

I certainly hope Hawke ≠ Shepard.

Mass Effect is a wonderful game. Let Mass Effect be Mass Effect. Let Dragon Age be Dragon Age.

Agreed. I don't want them imposing Mass Effect's cinematic approach on Dragon Age, which is a fundamentally different game.

I am thoroughly disappointed. Sadly, it seems you will have to be not only human, but male. My wife will be extremely disappointed by this, not to mention all the other ladies out there. The customization part of the game for MY character is what drew me in. If I am playing someone else character...it just doesnt have the same power of emersion. Sorry Bioware, but in my book this is failure to recognize what worked in DA: Origins, and what didnt.

It can also kill a franchise if it lacks character customization.  Choosing what you look like and what race you are is what provides the best immersion.

Its what attracted many non bioware fanboys (I mean that in a non rude way) to the game. I rented it purely because of that element and got my brother, sister and a friend ( all of whom don't usually play these type of games) playing it because they like games where you create your character.  Now this game may still have that but limiting the race will upset many people especially the dwarf players. They are an angry bunch.

short people are grumpy. kidding.  maybe they'll allow for change in height and you can play a really short human thats stocky or a somewhat short human that is thin and genetic defect of sharp ears.
