Chris, based on your experience is there a possibility that we'll know the specs before January? I have no idea when developers can guesstimate that information.

We're working hard to lock down the information, but I would not want to hesitate a guess as to when it will be available. As soon as possible would be safe to say, but whether that is days, weeks or months, I don't know yet. Sorry.

I just hope you will have full support for Win7 64 bit systems, multi core cpu's such as I7, and all the latest graphics cards when releasing this time around. ;)

You know what I've never understood...  how devs come up with minimum specs.  Is it based off of test beds or some arcane formula depending on how you guys use memory and textures and MIPS and threads and yipyaps and stuff?

I'd like my Hawkette's specs to be 32FF-25-35 in if at all possible.

Oh man, straight up 64bit support would rock.  Even Sims 3 didn't have full on 64bit support.  It barfs after like 60min of play time.

Minimum DA 2 hardware requirements: PC and a one-button mouse, a two-button mouse with high sensitivity recommended.

Wholeheartedly recommended: Xbox360 (Kinect is even more recommended, the game is being developed with Kinect in mind – it adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay, hacks and slashes are so much visceral now, you almost feel every hit you deal to your opponents, the PC version, as a console port, is not capable of delivering such a great experience only consoles render nowadays).

From my experiance having a low spec machine for a few years most companies get a bunch of 5 year old components and throw them at a dart board. The ones that stick are the minimum specs.

We have not yet locked down the PC specs. Once we do, we will add them to the DAII FAQ and announce them in the Announcement forum.

What about a broad indication?

For example, how much more more power does it require compared to DA:O? About twice as much, about the same, somewhere in between?

I do recall from way back at the Gamescom chat with Fernando Melo and Laidlaw, Melo mentioned they were looking at supporting more high end features such as DX11, which would be nice.

I'm in the exact same situation.

I would Pre-order DA2 right now if I knew  for a fact that my current computer   will  run it.  Hopefully we'll get a workable answer before the January 11  deadline  on the Signature edition offer...

I sure hope so.  The differences between DX9 and 11 are worth the investment.

My graphic card is saving my butt and makes the game run smoothly even though my CPU is not of the latest model to say the least. Hopefully it will run fine and won't need anything more than DAO otherwise, problem. I'm optimist though. The game runs very smoothly on high with my specs.

Broad? Ok.

I suggest you'll need a PC powered by electricity. Some memory will likely be needed as will some sort of graphics and sound cards. I can also say a monitor will make it easier to play.

Happy?

I would hope Direct X 11 and SLI support, but considering they have to develop for the lowest common denominator consoles I won't be surprised if its another direct x 9 game.

DA 2 is being developed natively as a DX9 game (as a console port), that's for sure. Let us not forget

DA 2 is a console-focused product and today's consoles surely cannot deliver as much performance as the top-of-the-line PC hardware. So to make this short, DA 2 will not be most probably dramatically different from its younger brother in terms of visuals and technical advancement. So all of you who are eagerly expecting technical miracles of the console port please move on to Crysis 2 and such.

A game where you have to use your hands will be considered a kid's toy by now.  Back to the Future told me.
