In this nest of negativity let me put this forward, here are the reasons I am looking forward to dragon age 2.
Firstly, its still Bioware, they are still the same people who brought us the Original DA, the Original and the second Mass Effect, Jade Empire and Kotor. I have faith that what ever plan they have will work, it might not be what we are used to but it will work.
The original Dragon age was a throw back to a period of gaming long since dead, the party based heroes journey rpg. I do not want to go to a scripted Sheppeard like protagonist I have mass effect for that, however I will trust that this approach will allow them to tell a different kind of story, I will treat it for what it is, an extension of the setting I started to love, and a hope that the story told will follow on into another game I will enjoy.
Dragon Age is blatantly being groomed for MMO'dom at some point, Not sure how with Bioware now running Warhammer online as well as Kotor coming but if my guess is right then what this game will do is give us a more introverted look into a character that may well become a major player in the Dragon Age universe, the first story was about the setting this one could well be about a particular hero and its place in future lore.
I hope that bioware dont dump the idea of allowing us to create our own narrative in favour of railroading us down ME2 style lightweight action RPG's this would be a real loss to the industry and the gaming world there is no successor to bioware, and I for one do not want a return to the barren days prior to the Baldurs Gate revival. However its still Bioware they have still yet to produce a bad game.
Other good Reasons
Morden Solus "Have to see the little picture" this whole mission was to me some of the best written character developement I have EVER seen in a Video game, if you stop and think about it its one of the most moving video game narritves ever.
Sten - so different to the average RPG companion, he did not want your respect or your friendship yet eventually gave you both.
Urdnot Wrex - "I just wanted to be sure sheppeard, that you were doing this for the right reasons"
Jonaleth Irenicus "I cannot be caged, I cannot be controlled, understand this even as you die, ever pathetic, ever fools"
I have no doubt that what ever story Bioware give us will be compelling and immersive, it has to be, most of the vocal fan base are watching ready to jump on any mistake to pronounce the death of Bioware to EA. But remember it was a MERGER the Doctors are still in the house, and these are people who have entertained us beautifully for 10 years long before wow was even a beta test they had a multiplayer game that had a community of 4 million.
They havent let us down yet (apart from shoddy patch communication over DA.........)
So less of the doom and gloom and do what I am doing drool for next year, DA 2, ME 3 and KOTOR...........
It will be war... and it will be glorious!
Why I am looking forward to Dragon Age 2

Thanks for saying something positive, making this forum readable.
But why do you say DA is being groomed for an MMO? So far, they've totally avoided any multiplayer at all in Origins and DA2.

Its just a gut feeling really, the combat system is more "mmoish" than single player (though its better than the previous efforts from BW).
The setting its self its epic scope and scale the way the games and expansion and DLC seem to be building the world. It just feels like its being potentially groomed to eventually go MMO.
I may be wrong, I hope I am to be honest, I would rather they consistently released DLC and at most made it so I could play with a friend or 2 in future games (its a setting I would love to share with a friend). But I also appreciate the art of great story telling that goes into the single player RPGs.
Like I said its a gut feeling, I hope its one thats incorrect.
Oh and your welcome

Thanks for replying! Personally, I also don't want DA to become an MMO, because I fear that like Warcraft, that will lead to a loss of the series I originally enjoyed. I think the fact that DAO and DA2 were both planned as single player means that is probably their focus with Thedas.

Anytime
I hope you are right, I would like to believe that in the hyperconnected age we are in the DLC market can keep a good single player franchise competative with the mmo scene, but I am also watching TOR with interest as if they can bridge that gap in the two gaming worlds, well it will be interesting times all around.
