Maybe the sequel will have metal IN the game. Because Warrior Within was the best Prince of Persia game...right?

God damnit, now I have the combat track from Warrior Within stuck in my head.

With the trailer coming up please restrain your marketing department from releasing a trailer with lame metal music and slogans declaring "this is the new sh*t".

It's rather embarrassing for a fantasy title.

Manson isn't metal. Either use in game music for the marketing, or music that fits fantasy. Like folk or power metal.

Infact yeah. Power and Folk metal please.

Ironically power metal is not powerful but very homoerotic, tight pants and males squeeling in high pitched vocals about killing things in their loincloths.

You just described most of metal.

The killing things in their loincloths lyrical style is the power metal part.

Stop discussing metal, silly Bieber fans.

It was rather fitting the trailer I suppose. Wait Remember PoP WW it had well Godsmack and it fit in just right.

What do you want ****ty rap playing while there's blood and gore everywhere?

I just don't see the point of this, they choose what ever the want for their music in the trailers.

The music in game is fine. At least in Origins, and Leliana's song

Do you people even know what are you talking about?

Kamelot is also a power metal band but I don't see any tight pants or make-up.

Jesus christ saying that all power metalists must look like that is just ignorant.

BTW: Manson sounds more "Industrial" to me. And he sucks too. But that doesn't mean you have to make make up these assumptions and throw everything "metal" into one bag.
But hey, you said that you despise this kind of music, I wouldn't be surprised at all if you considered Manson as the only thing associated with metal, duh.

Not a Marilyn Manson fan I see. But I do agree with your point.

By the way, calling his work "Metal" is about as unmetal as you possibly can be.

Manson does not equal metal, thank you for recognizing this.
Behemoth? That is metal. But I feel this game needs some Eluveitie or maybe some power metal. Kiuas, perhaps.
And also... Nightwish is not metal either. Nor is Metallica (not anymore, anyway). Dio would also be great.
Other great bands like Rhapsody of Fire have also been mentioned. Revocation is a great rising metal band.
And killersheep24? EMO DOES NOT EQUAL METAL. Dear GOD, how many people have percieved this is absolutely, RIDICULOUSLY UN-be-FRIGGIN-LIEVABLE.
What kind of music DO you listen to? Because, the only real music left now IS metal. There's rap, where EVERY song sounds EXACTLY the same, techno, where nothing ever happens unless you find the magical 1 in 10000000 band that actually uses a keyboard and synthesizer for something coherent, and pop which is all fake and over-produced. I mean... really? What other music is still REAL and still FITS anything as epic as Dragon Age OTHER than classical/soundtrack music besides metal? I mean, after all, metal's original roots are a mix of blues/jazz, the aggressiveness of the African drum, and most of all? classICAL MUSIC.

I'm curious, how is Nightwish "not metal?" At least when they had Tarja, they fit the definition of Symphonic Power Metal, and even after her departure, there's little reason to say that they no longer play in that genre. Yes they have had a couple poppy songs/ballads, but not enough to discredit their classification.

And yes, Marilyn Manson plays shock rock, for all those who are confused. And bands like Killswitch Engage/Atreyu/As I Lay Dying are metalcore, which is not a subgenre of metal - their music has roots in the hardcore scene as opposed to genuine metal.

Nightwish used to be metal. Now, they're on just about the same level as Evanescence. Well, maybe a little better. And, while I'd agree on KsE and AILD, I do not believe Atreyu can properly call themselves metalcore anymore. They've turned much closer to their punk and hard rock roots after 2004's The Curse, and honestly? I haven't really thought much of them other than that album. It's not that the bands you like aren't metal, because, I used to love those bands too. It's that there are three levels of metal.
On the first, introduction tier, there's All That Remains, Bullet for my Valentine, Killswitch Engage, Dragonforce, and so on. Metalcore for the most part, with sprinklings of thrash and power metal. Hell, my iTunes even classified Three Days Grace as metal. Uh, don't think so.
The second tier consists of bands like AILD, Sonata Arctica, Iced Earth, Eluveitie, Hammerfall, and other numerous bands who are still listenable to for the casual music appreciator, but heavy enough that anyone who only likes a little bit of rock and considers The Beatles to be rock... well, they're not going to willingly listen for more than 10 seconds. (Not that the Beatles weren't rock! They were in their time, just as Elvis was. But in today's view, that would be more like pop-rock)
And then there's the third tier, which constitutes of bands like Gojira, Behemoth, Gorod, Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, and The Dillinger Escape Plan, who all are not going to be listened to by anyone who does not love metal or know anything about metal. These are "true" metal bands. Bands you won't hear of until you are in the metal scene. Think of it as three concentric circles, each with quite a number of subgenres in each circle. You'll find this method of organizing the sounds and "heaviness" of metal is quite efficient. Perhaps I'll draw up a diagram one day.

So, not that Nightwish is NOT metal... it's just... not entirely metal.
As to Dragon Age? You're covered in metal the entire game. You gotta have SOME kinda metal theme. ;)

When I become king, Painkiller will be used to market everything, no matter what. I don't care if it's a chidren's movie, a chick flick, or a holocaust movie, if it doesn't have Painkiller on somewhere during the commercial, you're getting put up in front of a firing squad.

Actually you are missing the point totally. First it's not embarrassing. Second the majority of the buyers of this game are into that alternative music and enjoy identifying a game they love with it. I for one found the trailers refreshing.

I say we go for something like Immediate Music, they make the most epic trailer pieces ever imo

Maybe this one would suit a DA2 trailer:

Or maybe my all time fav:

Or this one is really good too, has a feel of an epic battle going on:

Let's give some epic music to the marketing. Like the title song of Dragon Age, it was pretty much full of win.

Ehhhhhh. You just named three of my favorite bands and I would very much consider Killswitch and As I Lay Dying to be Death Metal but whatever. I also don't know why you'd say metalcore isn't a subgenre of metal...it clearly is.

In fact, I think I disagree with you completely.
