First off, this isn't another Mind Numbing, "DA2 Sucks," thread. Permit me to elaborate.
For the record, I'm for the new Single Character Origin. Yes, part of the fun of Fantasy
is being another Race, but in Dragon Age: Origins there was a sense that the Multi-
Origins were mostly for show or to placate the Die-Hard D&D players. As anyone who
has bothered to play All the Origins knows, the Human Noble tied into the overall Plot
of Origins more-so than any other Character and offered the most End Game Options.
Not only was one of the central Villains (Howe) tied to the Cousland Origin, but being a
Human Noble permitted one to not only save the Day but you could even become the
Spouse (Husband or Wife) of whomever you choose to put on the Throne, i.e. Anora or
Alistair. And, let's not Forget that in Awakening being a Cousland adds a whole new level
to your Warden's relationship to Nathanial.
Now, don't get me wrong, the Cousland Story was Awesome and it's my second Favorite
right behind the Mage Origin, however it *really* felt like BioWare and the Writers (I'm looking
at you Gaider, you Brillaint & Evil Person) intended for the Cousland Story to be the *Canon*
Origin. What other Elements of the Over-all plot are Canon is up for debate, but I think most
can agree with the points made about the Cousland Plot. So, with that covered, the whole
point of this Thread is that with Dragon Age 2 introducing the "Shepard-ish" Single Hero it's
no longer a concern that one Origin Character would be shown More Love than another. In
Essence, Hawke is "The Hero," end of line. And that's something I'm thankful for. Sadly, I'm
a bit Nit-Pickish when it comes to "Following the Canon Story," in RPGs, so the fact that the
Human Protaganist is the Sole Lead Protaganist is a welcome one. I know others don't agree
with that. Hell, just look at the DA2 Fourm and the dozens and dozens of, "I hate it," threads
to see first hand evidence of that. None the less, its one less thing for me to worry about.
So, that being said, Thoughts?
*Edit: Oh, completely forgot to mention the Male Cousland in the DA:O Cinematic Trailer by Blur.
Yeah, kind of a given...
Dragon Age 2, now completely "Strong Arm into a Plot-line" Free...

considering how much time the warden spends in orzammar, i'd argue that the dwarf origins can be tied into the main plot at least as much as the human noble.

Don't mention the O-word.
I'd like to kindly forget it.

They added a lot of roleplay possibilities to the game: motivations to your character, why are they here, what are their personal goals (revenge for the HN origin, or wish for freedom for Mage origins).
Same with Mass Effect for me. Psichological profile and birthplace determinates somewhat how I act with Shepard.
It's fun, it's optional, it pleases you if you embrace the options it gives, let's your imagination free.
That's what a role playing game is about.

Because swords will now be using smithing clips to prevent overuse and breaking, yet weapon caches from a long time ago and people who were shipwrecked on a desert island for years will have them too.

I'm bemused as to why people are comparing Hawke to Shepard. Shepard isn't *your* character in the same way as the Warden is. Shepard is more akin to say Master Chief than to a traditional RPG protagonist. Obviously that's just my opinion and there only to explain my bemusement. But I digress.
Hawke to me seems more like Revan. Total customisation and the like but clearly defined as to who they ultimately are. The only difference here is that we know we're playing as Hawke here whereas in KOTOR we were politely informed halfway through that our PC was Revan. Again, just my take on it.
Also, golly am I then only one who loves Orzammar? It's my second favorite bit of the game after the Landsmeet.

I doubt that. It hasn't been confirmed yet, but there's a good chance that
the saves made in both Origins and Awakening will be portable over to
DA2 so as to connect the "State of the World" to what we will see in DA2.
I'm fairly certain that BioWare will have the "Plot Holes" issue covered.
Awakening was, sadly, a victim of last minute changes. It's clear that the
Warden was never meant to be a Part of Awakenings, but thanks to Fan
Demand, things we changed to Port Him or Her in. With DA2, things will
certainly be different and the choices made in Both previous titles, and
perhapes even future expansions between DAO and DA2, will certainly
be reflected in DA2. Given what was done with Mass Effect 2 we know
BioWare has the ability to tie Multi-Game Plots together nicely.

I'll be supporting the single origin approach too, it was a nice attempt with the multi one, but a single 1 has a far better chance of creating a great story, as it will be directly tied into that character for the whole game.
Im up for it being "casualised" to some extent too, just not to ME2s extent, they may aswell of just labelled that a 3rd person shooter.
