Tell us it is sort of a "reverse" spin off. That this approach is only to explore the Dragon Age from a different perspective.
Tell us that true sequel that returns with Origins and selectable player races is in the works but that it will take place in a different age. I think I could actually feel good about this game if that were true. Continuing to support DA:O with DLC post DA2 would help too...

DA2 is definitely more of a reboot/downsizing of the franchise.
Partly due to corporate mandate, and partly due to how much they would have had to do to make a proper sequel to DA:O.
