It looks like a glaive to me.

And on that note, let's have first look at the concept art of female Hawke...

Or it could turn out to be a really weird looking two-handed sword.

Wouldn't be the first game to do that.

What? I claim my right to be a jaded, cynical b*tch.

I love polearm combat in mount and blade (probably one of the few.)

Seriously, just read my rendition earlier and tell me it doesn't get your blood pumping. Just thinking of Mike Hawke running through terrified and hapless peasant girls gets me excited... but I guess that's just my chaotic evil side speaking.

I just really hope it makes it. I'm hoping a Bioware employee comes in here and mentions something about it, but they show up when you least expect.

That's what it reminds me of the most.

It looks closer to a nagamaki than a naginata...the pole isn't long enough to be a traditional naginata.

Due to the flare in the blade, I'm still going for glaive. But I'm sure we're all wrong and it'll have its own cool name. ;)

At some point, I want to see the DA series to introduce its own weapons.

So having its own cool name and design would be VERY welcome.

Long-bladed polearms are nice. You can get a lot of strength in each blow, but you also have the versatility to slash and what not when normally with a spear anything but thrusting is a bad idea.

I love the shortened military scythe in mount & blade warband. A nice long and sharp blade with decent heaviness along with a shaft that gives plenty of room for gripping.

You know, now its got me wondering if its closer to a Naginata or Nagamaki.

Its pretty close, but yeah, maybe it IS closer to the Nagamaki.

For people that want to compare-

Just so long as they don't call it the Hawkeblade. :D

Of course, we will be able to choose how he fights. Its confirmed he can be a mage.

But I'm going to stick to whatever class allows polearms.

So, warrior, quite possibly rogue?

I hope polearms get their own talents, and aren't shoe-horned in the two-handed weapon category.

Warrior most likely. But we'll see. I went Sword and Shield in DAO, but with Polearms available, I'd gladly head in that direction.

And i agree. I'd much rather they have their own talents than be shoe-horned into the two-handed category.

Well, they had polearms in Jade Empire. I suppose it could be a different category, but my money is on two-handed sword, I'm afraid...
