I'm doing the quest to get past the barrier and kill the Head Werewolf for the Dalish, unfortunately after I killed the Great Oak I went back to the Hermit and he told me I needed a Werewolf pelt to continue.  Thing is I've killed them all and destroyed their pelts.  So now I have a save game with a dead Tree and a wanting Hermit.  Seems thats as far as I can go unless someone knows how I can get a Werewolf pelt.

I may have a save with the Tree still alive if anyone knows how to get the Acorn back off the Hermit

why did you destroy them and not sell them to a vendor? You'd have the option of buying it back.

Conversely, give a wolf pelt to the dalish guy in camp who cant go hunting, or convince his love to hook up with him, he'll give you a book. try trading the acorn for that.

If you STILL don't want to, just kill the hermit for the stuff.

Fix what? Operator error? Probably be a good idea to implement a message letting people know they'll need a werewolf hide before people go destroy them. It'd be faster to just go back to a presave and redo the mission though. I know that's annoying, but live and learn.

Those options aren't available to all of us, people like me are irreversibly stuck without a load, and the hermit can no longer be killed after the oak is.

Damn, that must suck. Thanks for the heads up, though.

And why did you kill the hermit?

Don't the werewolf encounters randomly respawn in the first forest area? I know I was attacked by 2 or 3 new groups of Hurlocks/werewolves/bears every time I ran back through the zone back to the Dalish camp to sell things.

Once you close the shop and re-open it you can no longer buy your items back, it's only during the time it's been opened your items are available for re-purchase.

Yeah the buyback lets you get your item back without losing money on it if you clicked it by accident or something, but you can always go back into the regular inventory list and buy it there (at a pretty big loss).

I think people should make note of what game version they are playing? PC, Xbox, or PS3?

Try stealing his stuff from the tree stump in his camp. He'll get pissed and attack you.

The book trade trick mentioned above might work too. Dunno if it gets closed off if you go too far down the killing-oak line, but that's how I got the acorn in the first place.

No, the acorn is no help if the tree is dead. Shouldn't just kill things...

Shouldn't be destroying anything either... Makes no sense at all.

You can kill the hermit if you try to loot the broken tree he sleeps in then he will attack you

You can also trade a silver ring (think it was a silver ring I traded with)

I wish there was. As a warrior I don't have the persuasion skills necessary for some of the dialog options, so I'm limited there. Don't think I'll be able to get the book off the dalish lad. So looks like I'll have to root through for a save I made. Means playing through about 6 hours again but at least I know I can kill the hermit and continue the quest line that way, providing the Oak Tree gives me a way of passing through the barrier. Does anyone know if this will work?

You don't need a high coercion skill to persuade the girl to marry the guy. Do that and he'll give you a book that you can trade with the hermit to get the acorn and everything will be right in the world. If you can't do that then you can just disturb the hermit's stump and he'll attack you.

It reminds me of the time I sold all my gear before a boss fight and spent the money on beans. They should fix that too.
