I mean the main character is a refugee of the Blight.
I don't think it would be inconceivable that some of the dangling threads will be picked up and continued.

*fingers crossed* That's all I can do for you, Lucy.
That's all anyone can really do, in the end.

I do agree a DLC would be nice, hm. There were things that were left in the dark, definitely, I think automatically jumping to a new story was a bit hasty, but we will see.

Doesn't the game take place right after Origins?

Hawke is the survivor of a blight, but we don't know if it is the same blight that our Wardens went through. In fact, it is highly doubtful as Hawke is from the Free Marches, and I don't think our blight ever made it up there, and was just locallized to Ferelden.

It isn't that far if they go under the sea and needed some recruits for storming Denerim.

I'd like to get a greater degree of closure to my Warden's story as well, especially in his relation with Morrigan. Hopefully, they can expand Origins to give us that.
I'd also hope this is the "final" chapter of the DAO story.

DA2 has the 10 year gap, big choices would/should be in effect 10 years on.Valin_Cass wrote...
If the story for DA:2 is completly different from DA:O than there is no reason why they can't just keep expanding both games at the same time. Play one game the experiance the wardens story and the other game for this new story.

My problem with that line of thought is that, it usually doesn't happen that way with games. When the next game comes out, the first one is usually left as is with more patch updates or so on.

So Hawk's story, is this before or after DA:O I
wonder...
He/She is a survivor of the Blight, so after.
Actually,
DA2 takes place over 10 years, so it spans quite a wide ramge of
events.
That makes me think there may be some overlap of events between the two games.

Well, we know there is still more DLC for Origins planned per Mr. Priestly. ANd it seems DA2 isn't coming out until March 2011, not February 1st like previously thought. Wishful thinking on my part, but could 2/1/2011 be the final chapter of our Warden in the form of one last ex-pack?
i hope its romance related.. and i hope i get to pwn some darkspawn. maybe a rescue mission to save my lady CHYA. uhg im getting my hopes up i know it.

The DLC team is completely separate from the game development team so it's highly likely we'll get a couple more decent sized dlc/expansions before DA 2 is out.
Mm, good point. I suppose I gotta stop jumping to conclusions, but it is hard. I mean, when I saw the DRAGON AGE II link on the home page, I went psycho. Ugh, Lucy too much of a BioWare fan.

There's still plenty of story left for our original Wardens. Obviously the Grey Wardens keep themselves occupied SOMEHOW when there's not a blight. And we got a few glimpses in Awakening of how fun the political game could be to play (I loved "holding court" especially).
Personally I'd be thrilled if there was some internal strife going on between the Grey Wardens of various countries, maybe some sect tries to unseat a country's ruler, etc. And optimally, this could take place in Orlais, since that seems to be Morrigan's destination (either "westward across the Frostback mountains" or mentions of "an Orlesian court", IIRC) if she gets preggers. And for you Leliana fans, I hope the connection is obvious.
But hey, I'll take whatever I can get.

The problem is you need to ignore the ending slides of Awakenings in order to actually get closure.
And if you chased Morrigan, you don't get any.
