TO me it does.
Experience the epic sequel to the 2009 Game of the Year from the
critically acclaimed makers of Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2.
You are one of the few who escaped the destruction of your home. Now,
forced to fight for survival in an ever-changing world, you must gather
the deadliest of allies, amass fame and fortune, and seal your place in
history. This is the story of how the world changed forever. The legend
of your Rise to Power begins now.

Key Features:[/b]
  • Embark upon an all-new adventure that takes place across an entire decade and shapes itself around every decision you make.
  • Determine your rise to power from a destitute refugee to the revered champion of the land.
  • Think
like a general and fight like a Spartan with dynamic new combat
mechanics that put you right in the heart of battle whether you are a
    mage, rogue, or warrior.
  • Go deeper into the world of Dragon
Age with an entirely new cinematic experience that grabs hold of you
from the beginning and never lets go.
  • Discover a whole realm rendered in stunning detail with updated graphics and a new visual style.

Survived your hometown destruction reminds me of fable 1 surviving the bandit attack that devastated your hometown.
Gathering allies and amassing fame and fortune remind me of fable two where you needed to gain allies and amass fame inorder to move on in the story.
That was the first thoughts i had where i saw it.
Anyone else?

Only its not being made by Peter Molyneux so has an above average chance of being halfway decent.

- You didn't survive your hometown's destruction, you survived almost the end of the world in your little slice of hell.

- Gathering allies and fame / fortune isn't a unique concept done only by Fable.

yeah everything you described are pretty cliched and fairly common fantasy tropes in books, movies, and video games at this point... you could be describing any fantasy book, game, or movie with that description lol... Oh and i wouldnt compare any game that hasnt been released yet to either of the fables thats like condemning someone to hell before they are born lol

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it doesn't remind me of anything, and I'm not going to pass any judgement on one small press release and two pictures.

Crazy, I know.

No, It doesn't. I don't think that Peter Molineux was the one that invented the "raise to power" concept.

As such, not all games that feature that concept feel like a ripoff of his (quite often poor or at least very much underperforming compared to his promises) games to me.

SO it is only me that thinks of fable.

Oh well then.

I can't say the executive summary/press release really inspires confidence that this will be a sequel true to its roots.

Will wait for the trailer. That will determine if they have decided to shift emphasis towards the Xbox-Fable crowd.

It does sound very much like Fable 3. But Fable 3 has John Cleese. It's gonna be close.

  • In Fable 2, the heroes were the main characters. In DAII - You are the main character who changes the world.
  • In DAO you could rise from a city elf to the greatest grey warden ever. Lots of RPGs are like this. You start out as a no one.
  • In Fable 2, the combat sucked. The magic system was the worst system ever. Also in DAII, there are classes, so you can't be slicing someone up with your two handed weapon and then call down lightning to strike that person.
  • Even Two Worlds II has a cinematic experience. So does Assassin's Creed - the first game I know off to do this. Fable II copied it.
  • Well it is a new world.
So I disagree I think DAII will be a better game than Fable II ever was. I didn't even like it anyway. DAII will be its own game also. At least - this is my belief on this subject.
