Frankly, the only reason I buy games like this is to be able to create my own character. I want to choose who I am.

If I cannot create my character and gender, I will probably be too pissed off to buy the game.

I live with being stuck with only one species or only one last name. That doesn't bother me greatly. I do demand gender and apearance customization.

I am confused right now; I am hearing things that rumor that we will lose this.

Gender has been repeatedly confirmed as selectable, yes. Appearance, I don't think any dev has said anything yet.
