What could likely be the setting in DA2? Or because it spans 10 years, that it may take place in several continents.

I believe it was in the Free Marshes, although depending on when the 10 year rise of power begins - you could start off in Ferelden.

Free Marches. Hawke is supposed to be the Champion of Kirkland.

Free Marches sound like a good idea since each city is said to be indeendent which means there should be different cultures/architectures going on.

Shame, would have liked to see Orlais. But best comes to best i hope it takes place in multi-continents.

I'm happy with the Free Marches so long as they intend to take the story to Tevinter at some point.

I was hoping for Tevinter, but I'm not a big Lore buff and don't really know what Free Marches deal is, as long as it isn't Orlais I'm happy with the setting though.

Too many unconvincing French accents, Sith ;)

Hmm? I just didn't like the over the top faux French accents that were in Origins, I don't mind the setting itself, I just didn't want to listen to them for 50+ hours of gameplay. Nine times out of ten I have sound turned off and am listening to my own music though, so it wouldn't have been a deal breaker or anything.

More that, if the setting was Orlais and assuming everything will be fully voiced, Bioware would have to do some talent scouting to provide decent voices for all their NPCs. I wouldn't mind a game in Orlais, but I'd find it hard to endure without sound personally.

The Free Marches is open to a lot more variety where accents are concerned.

Not likeley we will ever see tevinter they keep shorting us on continuing story line so I see no chance our character,,,oops ..... Hawke will wind up in tevinter since he has his own agenda. Sad I would have liked to continue the origins storyline as we were led to believe.

Yeah, no Orlais. Please no Orlais... I'd kill myself in-between the French accents driving me batty and the fact there are clothes there...

I love clothes...

Problem is, people were going on about how Leliana had a faux accent.

The voice actor was actually french.

Edit: And I AM french, it didn't sound fake to me.

You weren't led to believe this, not by Bioware anyways. They never stated that the origin story would carry over into a sequel, it was all players assuming that since Mass Effect did it that they'd also do it with Dragon Age.

Reality is unrealistic.

Find a quote from a Bioware employee stating this.

All of the above maybe. No reason (that I can tell so far) to be limited to one country when the story is about Hawke's rise to power and being the most important person in the world.

One thing I'm excited about is seeing the rest of Thedas. If it's 10 years I hope we at least get to leave Ferelden and see a bunch of other places. (Antiva being a personal favourite, for the ****s and the corrupt politicians!) But the Tevinter Imperium...Oh how I'd love to see that!

Thing is, for our character's adventure to span a decade, the effect of the Blight on the entire region would have to be incredibly widespread and prolonged. The epilogue for Awakening gave the indication that the Blight was already in the past, and I feel that my Grey Warden managed to stamp on the Blight pretty damn thoroughly before it got out of hand.
Therefore, the chances are, that this game will be set during a different, more widespread and prolonged Blight. Again, this implies that the game will take place during the sixth Blight, whether it be caused by another corrupt Old God, or Morrigan's child.
In fact, this seems to imply that the game could take place almost anywhere, and conceivably centuries after the first game. Personally, I favor the ruins of the Tevinter Imperium, and perhaps that could be extended to the newly settled land of the Qunari.

Also, here's a map of Thedas, for reference.

You're not necessarily going to be fighting the Blight the entire game, like the last one. It could be that the destruction of your home is the last major act by the Blight before the Wardens manage to stomp it into dust.

Actually, that's a good point. I looked, and the info page doesn't mention the Darkspawn once. While it's unlikely, there's even a chance that this Hawke fellow might be out for revenge on, dare I say it, his fellow humans.

It *IS* in the free marches, take a look at this map of Thedas and have a look at the lower part of where it says "Free Marches", just below the Vimmark mountains...
