did you miss the part where I said I didn't want DA to become like ME did with ME2's "streamling" (lol at that)?

and sources? obviously I don't have any...only a track-record...and this little info sounds a LOT like what we were given about ME2.....and look at that.

So because "it sounds like what the said about ME2" you are claiming they will toss out all the RPG elements? Because they are changing protagonists? Gee I remember when Shadows of Undrentide made you play a new character totally unrelated to the Hero of Neverwinter and they totally destroyed all the RPG elements with that right? or because a promotional quip talks about "thinking like a general and fighting like a spartan" That must obviously mean they are throwing away the talent system right, it could not possibly mean they will simply include a more expansive tactic slot system and more powerful skills/spells. . .

You seem to be making TREMENDOUS leaps of logic simply because "it sounds like what they said before ME2"

This is indeed a little nutty....

But looking at Mass Effect 2 and adding to it the wording of the text on the teaser site I wouldn't completely dismiss the possibility.

was it a little overboard? of course...it was done to get my point across to those with the intelligence to handle it and share their thoughts/opinions..agree or not...which you seem to be one who can do that.

do I really hold that low an opinion of the bio guys? no, I do think more highly of them....as I said the purpose was more in the post to follow them my overdone "meeting"

still glad to see some of you hold enough intelligence to talk about it..rather then posting the typical things you see at the WoWtard forums....like the troll posts..which I find hilarious.

@OP: I can understand not liking the game, I don't like the game based on what we know right now, but give it time and you might even enjoy it. If you don't like the game DON'T BUY IT but you still try to disprove this game with little information and calling your trolling an opinion. You simply fail.

How much has the game changed to warrant such fears since its reveal TODAY?

What COD 3 was to COD 2, DA 2 is to COD 2

How is COD even remotely similar to DA?

Suron, after reading about the protagonist of DA 2, I share some of your concern. Coming up with a character concept and then crafting a character from scratch with her own background is one of the more enjoyable, and important aspects of an RPG to me. There does seem to be a trend in gaming sales where any game involving a fantasy setting is called an RPG.

That, too, is cause for concern. I'm not sure if DA2 is going to turn out to be a big hack and slash fest like Darkspawn Chronicles, or make us talk to objects instead of people like in Awakening. But I guess I'll be spending some time reading the forums when the game debuts before buying it. I did love DA:O and wish they wouldn't veer off from what was solid and what worked. A little too early to judge for me. Seems it will be a waiting game.

Yeah, I really hated Anomen. Mods were great, though. =)

Exactly. Mind you, the wording of the reveal site might as well be meaningless marketing jibberjabber, but it does cast a "mass effect 2 dumbing down" shadow on Dragon Age 2.

While I'm not 100% sold that such dumbing down will really happen, when it paddles around like a duck and quacks like a duck, it only needs to actually look like a duck to be a duck.
I would say expressing some concern on the matter is entirely justified.

I hope I am wrong too. What I get from the evidense so far (which is scant at best) is that it -seems- you will be stuck playing a human whose appearence is chosen for you. As for race and the character look, I hope I am 100% wrong about it being chosen for you. Because if I am right, the game for me FAILS. Immersion STARTS with character creation. Without that, they miss the point of games like DA. I am not saying the game will fail (in that I get to choose to play MY character, not someone elses), I am just saying that I am concerned thats how it will be.

I think what I learned from games, don't listen to the advertising schmaltz. It's so vague and general and full of bull it could be anything.

I know, I am a hypocrite, but I am a learning one, at least.

p.s so giving my protagonist the first name, Lady.
Heee heee heee.

I still fail to see the point of the original post. Being scared of change and openly insulting people for little to no reason are unrelated. Until you have solid evidence there is no reason to lose your mind, and even with solid evidence it is simply a game. I really like DA:O also but I won't lose any sleep if I end up hating DA2. Its probable that I am just not intelligent enough to understand it though as Suron I'm sure would agree.

Perhaps if we, as fans, asked more questions instead of going off on completely unfounded tangents, we might get some more info out of the devs.

I would disagree with this.
First of all, defining it "insulting" is a bit farfetched. I would more label it as pretty harmless satire. Most public figures have to accept it, and I doubt game developers should be exempt.

Whether the disastrous changes depicted in the OP are really set to happen or it's pure theorycraft, preemptive expressions of concern are STILL an useful form of feedback for Bioware (IF they're willing to listen of course), as they can see where their fans stand about the issue.

The OP is simply stating an opinion, but the opinion is based on limited information and we don't know if the game will be good or not, which I hope it is. While I may dislike the infor we have now, I may grow to like this game in the future with more information. But the way the OP says their opinion and insulting others and disguising it as intelligence makes the OP a TROLL

Yes because two pieces of promotional art work and a few lines of PR speak and the protagonist's last name being revealed totally mean you can claim that they threw out the RPG stats, talents, and conversations. You wanted and "intelligent debate"? Cite your sources then.

this is just the repetition of what Mass Effect 2 made to Mass Effect, that is quite a good source as an example what may happen to character armors, inventory, and ability to equip npc party members

EDIT: ah and to class skills, i nearly forgot about dumbed down skills
