You do NOT get to choose your race. Since I have NO desire to play someone elses character, it's a game I won't be buying then.

I would disagree with this.
First of all, defining it "insulting" is a bit farfetched. I would more label it as pretty harmless satire. Most public figures have to accept it, and I doubt game developers should be exempt.
Whether the disastrous changes depicted in the OP are really set to happen or it's pure theorycraft, preemptive expressions of concern are STILL an useful form of feedback for Bioware (IF they're willing to listen of course), as they can see where their fans stand about the issue.

this is mostly why people are scared
Exactly. Mind you, the wording of the reveal site might as well be meaningless marketing jibberjabber, but it does cast a "mass effect 2 dumbing down" shadow on Dragon Age 2.
While I'm not 100% sold that such dumbing down will really happen, when it paddles around like a duck and quacks like a duck, it only needs to actually look like a duck to be a duck.
I would say expressing some concern on the matter is entirely justified.

Indeed it does make me wonder, because I have had pretty much the opposite experience. Playing through ME1 is a chore, and I've only done it twice. I MIGHT do it once more to get a good "canon" playthrough of it and ME2 before ME3 comes out. But other than that, it's been all ME2. It's just...more FUN. I dunno. It doesn't feel like I'm constantly putting up with things while I play it.Suron wrote...

I'm as guilty of jumping to conclusions as anyone, but this is a little nutty.
A lot of what little has been announced has been disappointing to me too, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be a great game.
And for what it's worth, ME2 is sooo much better than ME1. I'm not saying every change was for the better, but in general it was way smoother and a lot more fun to play. Better action, better squadmates (in my opinion), no Mako, no dealing with piles and piles of stupid upgrade junk, etc.
what's funny is..I almost..almost MIGHT agree..
except....I've played ME1 10+ times....and even though the combat is clunkier..and the inventory management is a mess..and the mako (which I didn't mind much..but then again I didn't mind scanning either) wasn't very good...
with all these "improvements" why can't I make it through a 3rd play of ME2?
makes ya wonder...

@SirOccam: The answer to that is quite simple. It's "variation". Variation adds to replayability, and Mass Effect 2 removed a lot of the variation to it's gameplay, making further playthorughs simply more boring.

I'm willing to bet 100G that a month after DA2 is released you'll be singing it's praises. You'll be proved wrong, will look and feel like an idiot, and change your forum name to Duncan.<br />
