Okay before you guys start the flame war (Which will be started eventually sadly -_-) for those who disliked ME2's story, what did you disliked about it?I mean i know it doesnt have a huge mystery like the first one but still i think its pretty well done especially due to the fact that those who enjoy the story can get deep in it with conflicts like the geth quarian war,the genophage and so on, for people like me who enjoy the story and universe i found it very enriching and deeper than the first one,yet those who just want tackle the "main story" can do that and just focus on killing collectors and stuff like that and whose to say that ME2 doesnt have its surprises i was quite shocked when i realized who where the collectors in the first place,so its true its not a perfect story but i think its as deep as the first one its just that getting deeper has to be on your own and not by the developers invisible hands(please post your opinions with respect as i respect all your opinions and would like that my opinion is respected as well (: )

Too many SPLOSHUN's

Sorry but that has seemed very unrepresented as of late

They tend to not feel like they have a drive to go through the story, and because of the priority of the sidequests

ME1 is plot driven. ME2 is character driven.

Mainly? Disconected plot, no cohesion.

Only run into the collectors what, three times?

Im not one of the haters, but i see their criticisms as valid.

Wrong people hate the plot, not the story. They are two diffrent things. Wghere is Smudboy when you need him, this would be the best time for him to be here.

The story was good and had potinal but the horrid plot overshadows it, lets look at ME. ME had a verfy basic story, but had a very strong plot.

This is it right here. We only fight them once before we go to there ship, find out about them then we don't fight them until the end. There should have been more missions with the Collectors.

Mass Effect 2 - Bioware tries to fix things people hated on about Mass Effect and tried out new things.Story is weak, but it's working out the kinks in the gameplay and seeing what new stuff they added people like/dislike.I like to call this the "guinea pig" of the trilogy. Also,EA was in on this,so it more catered for the casual action fans than RPG players.

I think he said story not plot :l

I enjoyed ME2, but I didnt think it was as good as ME1 story wise. While the collectors were a targeting humans, I didnt see how they were a real threat. They abducted colonies in Terminus space, thats bad and all but eventually they wont have any humans left to get there.
Then what? They cant exactly go into council space without starting something.

^Good point @somebody

But then again with the production of a "Super Weapon" they would have posed a threat. But Shepard would not have known that at the time. All they know is that they are connected in the Reapers some way.

Story is not weak at all. It's more complex and stronger then ME. The plot however is what makes the story and if you have a bad plot, then the story suffers.

But we fought the geth a lot.  I liked the collectors, and I wish we got to fight them more often.

This. Every main mission had the Geth, so we always had that sence. With ME2, there was too few missions with the Collectors and people forgot about them to the point where I consider the mercs the main villians in ME2. ZYes the emrcs make sence where we fight them, but there should have been more Collector missions.

We didn't get much dialogue out of the geth in Mass Effect 1. A level designer could basically copy paste geth shock troopers and armatures everywhere and be done with it the same way you can copy/paste vorcha, krogan, Blue Suns/Eclipse mercenaries, geth troopers, drones and mechs in a Mass Effect 2.

The only difference is that some of the latter will actually talk before they try to shoot you.

Ya i wish it had a main baddy like saren!! ME3 i have faith in. They did the best they could with the middle of a trilogy. They made the story interesting while a plot less interesting and i hope they put the best of both in ME3

I think Bioware try not to do what they did with the original ME in which they practically made only around 5 or 6 missions and instead opted for a game with more missi ons,but some of the most important and interesting things like the geth/quarian war can be pretty much skipable:l
