This is the confirmation thread. Which for me = PASS

Sorry, I do -not- want to play SOMEONE ELSES character. If I showed up for a long term campaign in a table top game and someone handed me a character that I didnt make, I would walk.

It's the same thing here.

As well, there are other places my gaming money can be spent.

I feel it would be a major step BACK if the main character could be good or ruthless, a mage or warrior, but then you would be stuck playing as a certain male ore female (most likely male) character. I personally like Western RPGs a great deal more for their usual customization and wha not, if I wanted to play a specific person that I'd be stuck with the entire game, I would just play a JRPG.

Aside from that, I don't really mind playing a human(since that is my main race in DA:O), however it also feels a step back since you won't be able to play from their perspective. Now, in its description however, a story that spans over the course of a decade, now THAT is the extremity that I love in my RPGs.

In terms of character creation however, I still hope for the possibility in making your character fat/muscular/short or tall. If you can only play human, you should be able to at least get that, it should be more extreme than just creating a face for your character. Also, I feel it should make for very different, distinct faces, whether your trying to make an asian looking character, or a black character. I know it involves more work to do these things (at least the body modifier), but personally, I feel simple face customization is not enough for a game (in terms of just the customization aspect) that I'm planning on putting possibly over 30 hours for.

Ahem. Jade Empire.

Damn, forgot about that.
However, Dragon Age Origins let us customize our characters pretty thoroughly, and that's a good sign. Besides which, the chances are that we'll be permitted to play around the origins of our character before the Blight, to give our character a unique context, so they might as well let us play around with our faces as well.

Ah, just checked the link out thanks Davasar. I'm still excited for the game, don't get me wrong. I'm not going to judge it until AFTER I've played it, just have a few opinions based on my RPG gaming.

We all look for different aspects to a game, but for me and others like me, immersion starts from character creation.

If it's someone elses character, there is no immersion.

It would be like someone making a fantastic cake, and lacing it with dung.  Sure, there are parts of the cake that might taste good, but that taste of dung is resonant all the way through the cake.

I am so furious about the missing charactercreation-option! It's what I love doing! Creating characters. And YES it is exactly as if having to play as someone elses character! Grrr! Oh the rage!
I just bought the game without thinking about the possibility of not being able to create my character.... Not a CHEAP game!....and what a stupid game it is now! :[ *hrmph!*
