I thought the objective of advertisement was to entice new customers into buying a product, not to obnoxiously declare what music Rick in marketing has on his iPod that "you just gotta hear, man."

The Manson thingy for DA:O was 'ok' (the seemingly overused, as far as YouTube goes, 'This is War' was better, IMHO). I'm not really into metal (esp. the ones w/ people screaming...).

While I'd personally prefer more orchestral stuff (like, I guess, what we'd hear in-game), I'd also be happy with stuff by Apocalyptica for promotional stuff. ^_^

I'd rather they use stuff like Two Steps from Hell or Immediate Music rather than any actual metal. Metal can sound pretty epic under the right circumstances, but most of the time it just comes across as obnoxious.

Amen. Even though I'm a metal fan, since I hate it when people shove in terrible pop, punk or indie music into games I say no way, just keep it in theme.

Contracting any music band (regardless of the genre they happen to play to) is a nightmare 5 months before release. Negotiating with a studio alone could take up to a year for a few simple lines of vocals+ chords. Then you also have artistic direction, rights to promotional materials, copyright issues...

Even if you just use previously released material, you still have to obtain permission from the band's manager and studio to use it in your own promotional material- or you get sued for rights infringement.

Frankly, I'd rather get my game sometime before 2013.

Yes. Because when I think fantasy, I think obnoxious power chords and incomprehensible screaming. Right.

I'm gonna go with Maverick827, here.

They'll probably use rock music.

As much as I like hip-hop it would sound wierd with DA.

Personally I'd pick Linkin Park - Catlyst.

I'm a metal fan (particularly sludge, doom, black and crust)

However I'd really rather DA2/DA2's marketing to just stick with traditional fantasy music.

Just because you like a band/song/genre doesn't mean you need to hear it everywhere.

I'd like to see some metal. Perhaps some Amon Amarth for a battle scene or even some Turisas.

I think these song or one like it would be very fitting to the setting

Or if you want something a bit heavier to go with fight scenes, war and violence

Hmm but Heavy Metal is so 1980s and a bit too self-indulgent for my tastes..they should stick with the subtle rock tunes they used in the Destiny trailer or..

This Hawke is unstoppable!

Specifically anything with Dio. Rainbow in the Dark, Last in Line, Holy Diver, the man never made a bad song.

I recommend Kill the King:

Or Mob Rules:

Why would they use screamo crap 15 year olds like you listen to, to promote a fantasy RPG? I get enough of that from my retarded neighbors blasting their crap through the windows, don't need it in my games too.

I don't get why metal fans think metal is the solution to everything. They're the most annoying type of music junkie just for that reason.

I found the DA2 trailer with Apocalyptica's music added in. Sounds pretty fitting to me.

The only metal I would accept for the ads would be..

Simply because it's tongue in cheek, otherwise just use something fantasy inspired..

Why do people categorize all metal as an obnoxious, loud yelling and jet engines? How in the hell is a band like Delain (for example) obnoxious and loud? Even harder sounding bands such as Draconian have some of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
