You could have an origin taking place BEFORE the whole "Your home gets destroyed thing"..Sort of a background for your character like in ME1.

Just because we're one of the sole survivors of the Blight, doesn't mean we didn't have an interesting life beforehand. Personally, I favor the notion that the game will open with us in a level determined by our Origin that would function as a tutorial, before the Darkspawn attack and all hell breaks loose.

So yes, in essence the same beginning as DA:O.

sadly it is true, developers and mods already confirmed all other races have been victims to genocide by the hated humans

Maybe thats why they took out commoner origin for DAO.Wanted to use it for DA2.

Point one is true; point two is unsubstantiated.  Yes, you are a refugee, but that tells us nothing about the character's life beforehand, or how much we'll experience that previous life.  Origins may still be in the cards

So, there is definitely a female option, then? God I hope so.

I'm definitely going to miss the other races. Across all playthroughs, elf was definitely my fave. Though that might just be because they're just as short and scrawny as me in comparison to other people.
